The old dog-bite prevention advice: stand still, don't make eye contact, don't yell or run, can work with a non-bully dog who doesn't want to fight. He wants you to leave so he lets you leave. GREENBURGH NY - MAN IN SERIOUS CONDITION - HIS ARM SHREDDED - HIS DAUGHTER BITTEN BY 2 PIT BULLS AS THEY WERE HANDING OUT FLYERS FOR THEIR CHURCH

Monday, May 30, 2011 -  A 50-year-old man had to be rushed into emergency surgery and he remains in serious condition, and his daughter, age 18,  was also bitten and was treated and released.  They are parishioners at First White Plains Seventh Day Adventists Church and were passing out church flyers on Juniper Hill Road on Saturday, May 28.  They were walking up a driveway shared by several homes when the unleashed Pit Bulls charged at them.  One dog knocked the man down and dragged him behind some bushes.  The daughter who was being attacked by the second broke free and ran for help, then that dog turned and began attacking her father also.  The man fianlly crawled on top a station wagon to escape the animals.  A neighbor called police a 5:12 pm.

Police said that the dog that attacked the man was so vicious that:

IT CONTINUJED TO LUNGE AT AN ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER AFTER BEING TRANQUILIZED!!! IT WAS SHOT AND KILLED BY POLICE.

The 2nd dog was taken to the animal shelter.  The animals belonged to 25-yr-old Beverly Taylor who had bite marks on his hands after he tired to pull the animals away. He faces misdemeanor charges for dog attacks, having unlicensed dogs and having unvaccinated dogs.
