ELGIN IL - RECENTLY ADOPTED/BOUGHT PIT-BULL MIX YANKED ITS LEASH FREE AND ATTACKED A BASSET HOUND AND ITS NEW OWNER'S LEG

BECAUSE IT BIT DOWN ON ITS OWNER'S LEG..***  AND 'TWISTED'  ***...IT CREATED TEARS THAT STITCHES COULD NOT FIX.  SHE WAS HOSPITALIZED FOR 2 DAYS.  THE VET BILL FOR THE BASSET HOUND WAS $1,100.

A couple from Elgin bought Carson, a  PIT BULL MIX on April 1 and they renamed him  SMITHERS.

3 DAYS LATER, THE DOG MAULED A NEIGHBOR'S BASSET HOUND BEFORE ATTACKING ITS OWNER'S LEG AS SHE TRIED TO SEPARATE THE DOGS.

They were on the deck getting ready for an evening walk when they saw a neighbor walking a basset hound about 100 feet away.  "Something  'snapped'  in the Pit Bull Mix.  It was flat-out rage."  The couple are criticizing Huntley Animal House Shelter, where they adopted the dog calling for better screening of the animals before they are adopted out.

THEY WERE TOLD THE DOG HAD BEEN TAKEN TO TRAINING CLASSES AT PETCO WHERE HE WAS WITH OTHER DOGS AND DID WELL

I like the use of "adopted/bought" in the headline. Much more realistic than the frequently used (and more self-aggrandizing) word "rescue."

Sorry to break the news to all of the "rescuers," but adopting/buying a dog is not an act of heroism. It's a business transaction.
