LONGMONT CO - NEIGHBOR'S ADOPTED PIT BULL/ENGLISH BULLDOG MIX ATTACKED AND KILLED A BELOVED YORKIE "BELAGRIN"

Alda Crill was walking her 2  precious and beloved YORKIES on Tuesday afternoon on a double leash as she usually does and has done many, many times before.  About a half block from her house, she saw a  neighbor's PIT BULL and it left the neighbor's yard and disappeared around a corner.

HOW SHE WISHES NOW SHE HAD CALLED OUT TO THE NEIGHBOR WHO WAS WORKING IN HER YARD  --  SCREAMED OUT !!!!!  HEY !!!! YOUR PIT BULL JUST LEFT YOUR YARD NOT ON A LEASH --- GET CONTROL OF IT !!!!!   OR IF SHE HAD JUST BEEN OVERLY CAUTIOUS AND TOOK HER 2 YORKIES BACK HOME AS FAST AS SHE COULD !!!!!   BUT SHE DIDN'T AND NOW  ONE OF HER YORKIES , 8-YEAR-OLD "BELAGRIN",  WAS RIPPED APART AND MUTILATED  BY THE:

                    PIT BULL/ENGLISH BULLDOG MIX

THAT WAS RESCUED/ADOPTED/BOUGHT  FROM THE LONGMONT HUMANE SOCIETY

Crill says the Pit Bull suddenly came back into sight and charged them.  It grabbed  BELAGRIN and dragged her along with poor ZORA because of the double leash.  Alda Crill says she screamed louder than she had ever screamed in her life.  BELAGRIN WAS PULLED OUT OF THE LEASH AND HER CHEST WAS TORN OPEN AND ONE LEG WAS RIPPED ALMOST OFF.  The Pit Bull's owner called it and it dropped Belagrin and returned to its yard. Belagrin died shortly after arriving at Long's Peek Animal Hospital.

The Owner - Courtney Ebert-Hein  told Officers she adopted the  PIT BULL/ENGLISH BULLDOG MIX  from the Longmont Humane Society about 3 months ago.  She said that staff there told her that Chocolate was "SELECTIVE"  about dogs she got along with and had gotten into a fight at the shelter.  But records at the Humane Society show that she had a good record of playing with other dogs -  the fight does not show up on their records.  Liz Smokowski, executive director of the Humane Society, says that her staff counseled the family that the Pit Bull Mix ---MUST REMAIN ON A LEASH.

Ebert-Hein said she believed her adopted dog would would be fine unleashed in her yard with her other dog and her 2 small children while she did yard work.......

*****SHE WANTED HER PIT BULL TO PLAY WITH WITH HER OTHER DOG - A BULLMASTIFF - WHO DID NOT RUN OUT OF THE YARD AND ATTACK******
