Finally! The truth about pitbulls! My city has banned them when two deaths happened here in one year. BOTH unprovoked. One when a man was walking by a house where pitbulls were fenced in a front yard. They got out and attacked the man walking by minding his own business. The man died. And another when a little boy was attacked.

In my city there is a methodone clinic and the majority of pits you used to see were around that clinic.

Now though I'm told by a dog trainer here that pressure has been brought to bear and the ban is perhaps going to be removed. WHY? For the years the ban has been in place not one death due to a dog attack has happened at all.

I love dogs. I"ve had many as pets over the years but, never a dog like a pit bull. I just would not take that chance. They are NOT good family pets. And yet, if you say that around others who "love dogs" you will be shamed and told how "wrong" you are.

Can they be "sweet' Yes, they can. Until they aren't. And the baloney about how other dogs bite more often? Yes, they do perhaps but, ninety, nine times out of a hundred no one dies when other dogs bite. If a pit bull "just goes off" "for no reason" Someone is seriously maimed or dies. THAT is the problem. Plain as day. Denial is a powerful thing. They types of people who WANT to own pit bulls most of the time are not your "average family" We've all seen it.

And to those who want pit bulls, Cane Corso, Presa's etc. MUZZLE your damn dogs! You know full well people are in fear around your dog. I should not have to cross the street with my young niece or any other child to get away from you just because you have chosen an aggressive breed of dog. And no, you don't know how to control a dog like that. No one does once it's gone for someone, that's it.

People trying to own these dogs are doing the dogs NO FAVORS. Before the ban, our shelter was FULL Of pit bulls. By far the breed was filling up the shelters around here. Irresponsible breeders, giving these dogs to families who cannot deal with them and acting as if that's not what they are doing! I feel sorry for these creatures and sorry for everyone who has to live around them.

Thank you for your comment. Please do not go silent. Continue to speak out and be heard. So often it is the very young or the elderly that are injured or killed and the Breeders keep on laughing all the way to the bank !!!!!!!! And out tax money pays the medical bills.
