WILMINGTON NC -BOXER RECENTLY ADOPTED BY A FAMILY ATTACKED THEIR YOUNG GIRL


As of about 12:42 p.m. Thursday, animal control had taken a dog, a boxer, from the home.

Friday - May 25, 2012 - A toddler was taken to Hanover Regional Medical center and underwent major surgery after being bitten in the face by a  BOXER.

Around 12:42pm Thursday animal control had taken a dog from the home.  Sgt. Brewer with the NHC Sheriff's Office said according to Lt. Evers with animal control, it's one of the worst dog bite cases they have ever seen.

THE BOXER WAS ADOPTED FROM RALEIGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT.  IT ALLEGEDLY SHOWED SIGNS OF AGGRESSION AS SOON AS THE FAMILY BROUGHT IT HOME.  THE MOTHER OF THE VICTIM WAS ON THE PHONE WITH THE PERSON IT WAS ADOPTED FROM WHEN THE ATTACK HAPPENED.  IT WAS SAID THAT A TOOTH AND PART OF A GUM WERE FOUND AT THE SCENE.

As much as the animal rights people get up in arms about the euthanasia rates at shelters, I'm becoming all the more convinced that many dogs wind up in shelters for good reasons. This particular dog was probably aggressive toward its first owner, and that owner figured that maybe the dog was still salvageable, so off to the shelter it went.

Sorry, animal rights people, but some dogs just aren't safe. They need to be put down. Yes, I know you call that killing dogs, but in some cases, the public health and safety trump your rhetoric.
