SELHURST CROYDON ENGLAND - A MASTIFF ATTACKED AND KILLED A BELOVED BEDLINGTON TERRIER NAMED "SCRUFF" - THE "RESPONSIBLE" OWNER COULD ONLY RESTRAIN HIS MASTIFF BY TYING ITS HIND LEGS TOGETHER AND DRAGGING IT AWAY BACKWARDS !!!
John Tooze, 75, was walking his 8-year-old Bedlington Terrier Scruff on Heavers Meadow, Selhurst, on Sunday, when it was attacked by a red coloured Mastiff. The very large dog got him by the neck and Scruff was yelping and squealing rolling his eyes and then he just stopped.
"I KEPT SAYING 'CALL YOUR DOG OFF, CALL YOUR DOG OFF', BUT THE OWNER JUST KEPT TELLING ME TO BEAT THE DOG. HE COULD ONLY RESTRAIN IT BY TYING ITS HIND LEGS TOGETHER WITH ITS LEASH AND DRAGGING IT AWAY BACKWARDS."
Scruff was rushed to a vet but his injuries were too severe for him to be saved. His ribs were all broken and his chest cavity was perforated. The incident has been reported to police, but the owner of the Mastiff, a black male believed to be in his 30's, refused to give his name before leaaving the scene.
Mr. Tooze fears for the safety of other dogs and children and says people need to look out because it is still out there.
MORE PICTURES OF BEDLINGTON TERRIERS - THEY HAVE THE APPEARANCE OF A LITTLE LAMB - WEIGHING FROM 15 TO 23 POUNDS AND ONE IS REPORTED TO HAVE LIVED 23 YEARS.
