GRAYS HARBOR COUNTY WA - 81-YEAR-OLD WOMAN AIRLIFTED AFTER BEING MAULED BY GRANDSON'S 2 PIT BULLS INSIDE THEIR HOME

Gloria Boswell

VIDEO:http://www.komonews.com/news/local/Elderly--148979135.html?tab=video&c=y

SEATTLE, Washington – "Everybody gives a Pit Bull a bad name. It just depends on how they're raised," Edwin Groce told KOMO.com after his TWO PIT BULLS mauled his grandmother. "I think I raised them properly.”

82-year-old Grace Boswell, a great-great-grandmother, was home alone last Monday night with two Pit Bulls which belonged to her grandson, Ed Croce, when suddenly they jumped on her and began biting her face, arms and legs. "I had a pit bull wrapped around my neck," Boswell described. "That dog (came) off up the floor, onto the couch, and around my neck."

She isn't sure what set the dogs off. She says she reached for a pillow on the couch, which was reportedly the dog’s pillow, but she dropped it. When she turned to pick it up, the two dogs both lunged at her and began ripping her flesh.

Ms. Boswell can barely move her bandaged her arms and legs and the news video shows numerous deep puncture wounds in areas that are exposed. "(It's been) very tough," said her daughter, April Dean. "I just felt sorry that I wasn't there to help her, because I close my eyes and I can just hear her screaming for help, and nobody's there to help her. She's my life."

"If you want to survive, you're going to have to fight," 82-year-old Grace Boswell declared, struggling to speak as a breathing tube provided oxygen, “I wasn't about to give up my home and my life."

Chief Criminal Deputy Dave Pimentel with the Grays Harbor County Sheriff Department said Gloria Boswell wasn't discovered until her grandson came home with his wife after the vicious attack and found her “a bloody mess” on the floor. Groce shot one of the dogs in the head with a .22 caliber rifle while paramedics were providing emergency treatment to his grandmother, according to reports.

Groce claims "There've been no prior instances of this at all. It's like, Sissy, she would just jump up on your lap and lick your face, until we got the other puppy."

But another daughter told KING5.com that the Pit Bulls had bitten her mother before and she told her Groce to get rid of them but he did not not remove the dogs. She said no report was made and the grandson did not take Ms. Boswell for medical care.
Groce claims "There've been no prior instances of this at all. It's like, Sissy, she would just jump up on your lap and lick your face, until we got the other puppy."

“The second dog is under a mandatory 10-day quarantine, the Sheriff’s Department official said, and will probably be put down. Groce has another Pit Bull, which was not involved in the attack and was shown on a long chain in the yard. The dog appeared to be in good condition. No charges have been filed, but the investigation is ongoing, Chief Deputy Dave Pimentel stated.
"She had some horrific wounds, tendons pulled out," said Deputy Pimentel, who added that in his three decades in law enforcement, he'd never seen anything like it.

"They chewed holes in her arms, clean to the bone, and her legs," according to her daughter, April Dean.  Ms. Boswell is reportedly in stable condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle,

"I never knew they would turn like that," Dean said. "(Other people should know) just to beware. That they can do this to somebody."

The child's mother and the mother of the dog's owner, started screaming, and then wrested the dog away from the girl.  Benfield said he was told this took probably 30 seconds because the dog, called Chad, at first refused to release his bite.

The incident happened in the backyard of the dog's owner.  Benfield said he was told the dog had never bitten anyone before, and that Toni and her 4-year-old brother had played with him before, the last time at Christmas.

Benfield said that when he arrived at the house the dog seemed friendly.  Police Sgt. Al Reynolds Jr., who also investigated, said, "He was licking our hands and everything."

The dog was taken to the Charlotte Animal Shelter for at least 10 days of observation.  Afterward, his fate will depend on a judicial hearing, said W. B. Roberts, the city's superintendent of animal control.  Roberts said it was his first Animal-Caused Death in his 28 years with the dept.

Thurs - April 19, 2012 -A young boy attacked by a dog while camping with his family at a forest block near Turangi has always been a dog lover, his mother says.  The 12-year-old was flown to Waikato Hospital with severe injuries to his lip and inner mouth yesterday afternoon.

His face was operated on last night and he was in stable condition this morning.  His mother today released a statement saying her son had always loved dogs.

"MY CONCERN NOW IS THIS MIGHT MAKE HIM WARY OF DOGS."

She says her son did nothing to the dog that would have caused it to attack.  She thanked all those involved in her son's care including surgical staff at waikato Hospital and the paediatric surgery ward where he is recovering.

The boy was attacked as the family was preparing to pack up and return to Turangi.  The dog - described as --

           HALF-WOLF AND HALF-PIT BULL

was not known to the family.  The owner was present and is understood to have had the dog put down.

GASTON COUNTY NC - A ROTTWEILER NAMED ZEUS BIT A WOMAN HIKING ON CROWDER'S MOUNTAIN - THE DOG HAD BITTEN TWICE BEFORE !!!

Weds - April 18, 2012 - Zeus was deemed a "Dangerous Dog" after biting 7-year-old Sidney Smith on March 4.  The "Dangerous Dog" designation comes with a list of requirements, one of which includes muzzling the animal when having him in the vicinity of the public.

A Charlotte woman was hiking near the top of  the mountain when she encountered Zeus and his owner,  MAURICE BURRIS. The woman was allowed to pet the dog .  The  ROTTWEILER  did not have on a muzzle.  Then she turned to leave and the Rottweiler sank his teeth into the backs of both her legs.  Park rangers took the woman down the mountain on the back of a truck.  Emergency workers then took her to Gaston Memorial Hospital for treatment.

MAURICE BURRIS  was in the process of appealing the dangerous dog ruling against his pet.  He was set to appear before the committee this week.  Burris withdrew that request and signed Zeus over to the animal shelter Monday.

Cassandra Farmer Smith, the mother of Sidney Smith, spoke out about the dog after her son was bitten. She wanted the animal removed from the community.

"I HATE THAT IT HAPPENED AGAIN WHEN I ASKED FOR THE DOG TO BE REMOVED. "

But Sidney Smith was not the first to be bitten by this dog.  Another neighbor, Keyana Spikes,  says she was bitten on two occasions by Zeus.

Pending any attempts by rescue groups that specialize in rehabilitating aggressive dogs, Zeus will be euthanized.

Weds - April 18, 2012 - A   PIT  BULL    dog that witnesses claim went on a rampage, biting a least 3 people in a neighborhood in North cumberland County, sending at least 2 to the emergency room, has been ordered to be put down.

The attacks occurred in the Legion Loop area off Hwy. 127 N around March 18 when a woman walking in the neighborhood was attacked by the dog that had raced across two yards to reach her.  She ended up at the Cumberland Medical Center emergency room.

Another woman was more seriously injured when the dog attacked her while she was walking with her husband in the same neighborhood.  She was treated for injuries to her calf.

Officials found no record of the dog having shots, and as a result of complaints filed, Assistant District Attorney Amanda Hunter filed a petition with the court asking on behalf of the victims that the dog be destroyed.  The dog's owner ---MARISOL HERNANDEZ --- appeared in court for the hearing on March 29 and told Judge Patterson she would not oppose the dog being destroyed.   Then.........just as the proceeding was completed, deputies served Hernandez with a warrant signed by Cumberland County Commissioner Mike Harvel, who as a county employee oversees animal control.  HERNANDEZ was taken into temporary custody on a charge of allowing the dog to run at large.

MONTGOMERY AL - MICHAEL VICK HAS MADE ANOTHER EFFORT TO SAY ANIMAL CRUELTY IS WRONG - URGING ALABAMA LAWMAKERS TO INCREASE PENALTIES FOR COCKFIGHTING

COMMENT:  HOW MUCH LOWER CAN YOU GO AS A STATE TO HAVE MICHAEL VICK ADVISING YOU.  AND WHERE DO AVERAGE CITIZENS GO FOR HELP WHEN THEY HEAR ROOSTERS CROWING AND CRAP GOING ON IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT  IN A MAJOR CITY IN ALABAMA IN SUPPOSEDLY DECENT NEIGHBORHOODS. SO YES, WE NEED PEOPLE LIKE MICHAEL VICK MOUTHING TO US FROM AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT STATE WHEN OUR OWN CITIZENS AND LAW MAKERS WANT STEP UP TO THE TASK !!!!!

Monday - April 16, 2012 - Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick has made another effort to say animal cruelty is wrong, urging Alabama lawmakers to increase penalties for cockfighting.

Vick says in a statement Monday that Alabama's cockfighting law is the nation's "weakest" because the $50 fine is the maximum punishment,.  Vick has been outspoken against animal cruelty since he served 16 months in federal prison on a dog-fighting conviction.

Vick says he doesn't want others to make the same mistake of being cruel to animals.

SEN. CAM WARD INTRODUCED A BILL THAT WOULD UPGRADE THE STATE'S PENALTY FOR ILLEGAL COCKFIGHTING TO A CLASS A MISDEMEANOR WITH A MAXIMUM FINE OF $6,000.  THE BILL PASSED THE SENATE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE EARLY IN THE SESSION, BUT THE SENATE RULES COMMITTEE REFUSED TO BRING UP THE BILL FOR A VOTE.

LYNN HAVEN FL - 4 PIT BULLS ATTACKED 8-YEAR-OLD TRAVIS MOORE AT A BIRTHDAY PARTY IN MARCH - HE HAD A SEVERE BITE TO HIS FACE AND NOW NEEDS NERVE REPAIR OR A NERVE GRAFT

moore-damge-plays-monday
Sun - Apr 15, 2012 - A month ago 8-year-old Travis Moore was at a birthday party with his smaller brother, Nick, and a cousin.  They were outside playing "I spy" when.....

THE OWNER OF THE 4 PIT BULLS LET THEM OUT AND THEY ATTACKED.

"I didn't even get a chance to run," said Travis.  The second Travis saw the dogs he yelled for his brother and cousin to get up the nearest tree.  He got between the dogs and his brother. Most kids would have bolted.  He stayed to protect his brother.

When he was brought to Bay Medical Center, he had lacerations on his leg and ear.  He also suffered from a facial wound that was much worse than the other injuries.

THE LEFT SIDE OF HIS FACE HAD BEEN RIPPED TO THE POINT OF IT BEING ABLE TO BE OPENED LIKE A BOOK, ACCORDING TO HIS SURGEON. HE HAS FACIAL NERVE DAMAGE  AND HIS EYE AND LIP DROOP AND HE CAN PRODUCE ONLY HALF A SMILE.

He stayed at Bay Medical for 3 days and then spent 2 1/2 weeks healing before returning to school.  Once he returned home he would wake in the night screaming --"DADDY, DADDY, THEY GOT ME !!!" He has received counseling and the nightmares have gotten better.

What he needs is a peripheral nerve injury specialist, which are available only in certain centers in the country.  He is going to require significant nerve repair, maybe a nerve graft. His surgeon referred him to the University of Alabama Birmingham for the surgery.  However, Florida Medicaid will not pay UAB to perform the surgery, so the Moore's will have to pay for it out of pocket. His Dad has set up a benefit account in Travis' name. Donations can be made at any Hancock bank.  He is also hosting a fish fry on May 19 at the Panama City Marina to raise funds for the surgery.

SAN ANTONIO TX - ANIMAL CONTROL SERVICES IS BEING ACCUSED BY SOME OF BEING TOO SLOW TO RESPOND TO DANGEROUS DOGS RUNNING LOOSE - BUT VERY QUICK TO TAKE A WOMAN TO COURT BECAUSE HER 5-POUND CHIHUAHUA NIPPED SOMEBODY !!! COULD AC OFFICERS BE BIASED NUTTERS ???

                         VIDEO

(MUST READ THE COMMENTS ON THIS ONE!)

Beau is a sweet, cuddly 5-POUND dog most the time but like many Chihuahua's, he can be feisty.  When a maintenance man was doing some work in his owner's apartment and startled Beau, he nipped the man on the ankle as he approached his owner, Julie Kruger

"I WOULD NOT HAVE CONSIDERED IT A BITE.  THERE WAS DEFINITELY A LITTLE RED MARK THERE, BUT THERE WAS NO ACTIVE BLEEDING,"  SAYS JULIE KRUGER.

Kruger says the repair man just shrugged it off, but later apartment management made him go to urgent care, which is required to report dog bites no matter how minor.  Next thing she knew, she received 5 citations totaling more than $1,300 for, among other things, failing to keep Beau on a restraint. She says she does not think she should have to keep her dog on a leash or restraint inside her apartment.

"I JUST THINK THERE ARE OTHER, MORE IMPORTANT ISSUES THAT THE CITY'S BITE ENFORCEMENT DEPARTMENT NEEDS TO BE GOING AFTER."

                   SHE IS NOT ALONE !!!!!!!!!!!!

When the reporter went to Animal Care Services for their comment, a man came hurrying up to them.  Kelvin Payne says he's been trying for months to get ACS to pick up a pack of  dogs running loose next to his church where they growl and sometimes chase people showing up to worship.

"WHEN THEY RUN IN PACKS AND ONE OF THEM GETS AFTER YOU, THAT IS A BIGGER THREAT THAN THIS LITTLE CHIHUAHUA NIPPING AT THE HEELS," PAYNE SAYS.

When they asked ACS Assistant Director Vincent Medley if tax dollars are better spent rounding up dangerous dogs loose on the street, or taking a Chihuahua's owner to court, he informed them that a bite occurred and it's a mandatory report.  The state law requires a quarantine.  That's how it is.  He says that dogs must be restrained, even inside your home.  AND THEN HE SAID......

"THAT'S WHAT I DO WITH MY PIT BULL....MY PIT BULL IS A NICE DOG, BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT HE'S GOING TO DO IF A STRANGER COMES INTO MY HOUSE.  EVEN CHIHUAHUAS AND OTHER SMALL DOGS NEED TO BE RESTRAINED INSIDE THE HOME, EVEN THOUGH THEY DON'T SEEM TO POSE THE SAME DANGER AS A LARGER ANIMAL.  A PERSON COULD GET SCARED...FALL OVER SOMETHING.  BUST YOUR HEAD OPEN."

But it's hard to imagine Beau scaring anyone that much, but ACS won't budge.  They're throwing the book at the little guy......WHILE.....

UNION CITY TN - RESIDENT SEEKS BAN ON PIT BULLS AFTER AN ATTACK ON HIS LABRADOODLE AT VETERANS PARK

A Union City man wants the Union City Council to ban  PIT BULLS  from the city.

Claud Billingsley told the Union City Council Tuesday night, March 20, that he was walking his Labradoodle at the new walking track at Veterans Park recently when his dog was attacked by a  PIT BULL.

He said a woman walked up with two children and started talking to him.  She then said:

HER DOG WANTED TO PLAY ...AND AS HE TURNED AROUND HE SAW A PIT BULL COMING AT HIM FULL FORCE....HE GRABBED HIS DOG UP AND THE PUT BULL WENT FOR HIS DOG'S NECK.

Billingsley said it is by the grace of God he did not have his dog shaaved, as he had planned to do earlier, because all the pit bull got hold of was the Labradoodle's fur.  The Pit Bull knocked him down and he blacked out and when he came to, the male Owner of the Pit Bull was on top of the dog punching him.

"THOSE DOGS ARE VICIOUS AND DON'T NEED TO BE RUNNING AROUND TOWN.  THEY NEED TO BE IN A PEN.  THIS IS THE THIRD TIME MY DOG HAS BEEN ATTACKED BY A PIT BULL.

Billingsley said he called the police department but was told they would only respond if he signed a warrant.  He did go to the emergency to seek treatment for his injuries.

Kathy Dillon was concerned the police department did not respond. "We have a leash law and that needs to be enforced and we need to make sure all are aware of how to interpret the ordinance,"  she said   The mayor said that dogs not only need to be leashed but under the control of their owners.

Billingsley said he was more concerned about banning the dogs from the park or at least making the owners have them muzzled.

TUPELO MS - A SPECIALLY-FORMED COMMITTEE IS PROPOSING TO AMEND THE CITY'S CURRENT DANGEROUS ANIMAL ORDINANCE

TUPELO CITY LEADERS WANT TO PUT MORE BITE INTO ITS DANGEROUS ANIMAL LAW.

Sat - Apr 14, 2012 - The issue of Pit Bull ownership has been a hot topic throughout north Mississippi.

"IT'S A TERRIER BREED.  IT'S A GOOD DOG.  GREAT WITH KIDS AND GREAT WITH THE FAMILY. IT'S ALL IN HOW YOU RAISE THEM.  THAT'S ALL IT IS.  IT'S THE PERSON; NOT THE DOG.  HE'S A GOOD BOY"......SAYS A PIT BULL OWNER.

"I DON'T CARE ANYTHING FOR THEM.  THEY SHOULD BE IN A LOCKED-UP ENVIRONMENT AND DEFINITELY SHOULDN'T BE IN PARKS WHERE KIDS ARE; BECAUSE WE HAVE SEVERAL GRANDCHILDREN, AND WE BRING THEM TO THE PARK.  IT'S NOT A SAFE PLACE TO BE WITH A PIT AROUND," ......SAYS A GRANDFATHER.

Tupelo city leaders want to put more bite into its dangerous animal law.  A specially-formed committee, including Tupelo City Leaders, is proposing to amend the city's current dangerous animal ordinance in several key ways.

* One would be to require an annual permit fee of $80 a year for pit bull owners. Right now the cost is $75 for a lifetime permit.

*  Another new twist is that animals deemed as dangerous cannot be kept within 500 feet of a school.

* In the amended ordinance, city officials added Rottweilers and Dobermans to the list of dangerous animals.

The Humane Society would be authorized to compile and maintain a list of dangerous animals under the new ordinance.  It was the city clerk's duty under the old ordinance.

Committee members expect more changes to the proposal before any action is taken within the next thirty days.

ETOWAH COUNTY AL - BLEU'S LAW PETITION - WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT ? - BY PAM ASHLEY

Bleu's Law

Pit Bull attacks have gruesome effects.  Whether the victim is killed or suffers disfiguring injuries, the after-attack horror the victims and their witnesses relive over and over should not be allowed to continue.

A law requiring Pit Bull owners to take responsibility for their choice of pet should be created to protect others from attack.  This Petition does not intend to keep people from owning Pit Bulls, but requires them to respect the lives of other people and their animals by keeping their Pit Bull inside their own property or muzzled and leashed while off their property.

***************************************************************

THE ARGUMENT OF OWNER VERSUS PIT BULL IS IRRELEVANT TO THE PERSON OR ANIMAL BEING MUTILATED OR KILLED.

****************************************************************

The Alabama Counties have not had Animal Control law amendment since the Alabama Constitution was drafted in 1901.  Pit Bulls were not owned in family houses and neighborhoods in 1901.

This law should include regulations which some Alabama cities have already adopted.  This law should single out Pit Bulls specifically due to  THE FLESH-TEARING, BONE-BREAKING, DEADLY INJURIES THESE DOGS INFLICT WHEN THEY ATTACK.  If other dog breeds need to be regulated, that should be added in a separate petition.

THIS LAW SHOULD INCLUDE:

1.  PIT BULLS MUST BE CONTAINED WITHIN DOUBLE FENCING SO THEY DO NOT HAVE  ACCESS TO THE OUTSIDE FENCE.

2.  PIT BULL OWNERS MUST HAVE $100,000 LIABILITY INSURANCE ON EACH PIT BULL.

3.  PIT BULLS MUST BE MUZZLED AND LEASHED WHEN OFF THEIR PROPERTY.

4.  PIT BULLS MUST BE EUTHANIZED AFTER FIRST HUMAN ATTACK OFF THEIR PROPERTY REGARDLESS OF DEGREE OF INJURY.

5.  PIT BULLS MUST BE COLLARED WITH RABIES TAG AND OWNERS INFORMATION AT ALL TIMES.

COLLECTION OF DOG ATTACKS IN ALABAMA

PHILADELPHIA PA - 2 PIT BULLS ESCAPED FROM HOUSE AND ONE OF THEM ATTACKED A 15-YEAR-OLD BOY- HE WAS HOSPITALIZED IN SERIOUS CONDITION !!!

"HIS ARM WAS WIDE OPEN, HIS EYELID WAS HANGING OFF, HIS MOUTH WAS BLOODY, FACE CUT UP, CLOTHES RIPPED UP AND HE WAS JUST LYING THERE."

On April 3, 2012,  Police say 2  Pit Bulls escaped their owner's home on the 5900 block of Belden Street.  Witnesses say the victim was with a group of boys when at least   ONE OF THE PIT BULLS  began to chase them.  While his friends managed to get on top of a neighbor's car behind a fence:

-----THE VICTIM DID NOT MAKE IT !!!!!-----

"It was crazy," said Carolyn Stegall.  "I was petrified.  I was crying.  All of his friends were crying. "His arm was wide open," said Tahir Green.  "His eyelid was hanging off, his mouth was bloody, face cut up, clothes ripped up and he was just lying there."

"I KEPT TELLING HIM....CLIMB THE FENCE, CLIMB THE FENCE," SAID STEGALL.  "IF HE WOULD HAVE LIED DOWN THEY WOULD HAVE REALLY GOT THEM.  THAT'S HOW VICIOUS THOSE DOGS WERE, IT WAS CRAZY. IT COULD HAVE BEEN ANY LITTLE KID AROUND HERE. IT COULD HAVE BEEN ANYBODY."

One person who identified himself as the nephew of the dog's owner insisted the dogs are...."NORMALLY FRIENDLY" and that he is sorry to hear what happened

DELAWARE COUNTY OH - HUMANE SOCIETY BEING SUED - LAWSUIT STEMS FROM 2 INCIDENTS IN 2010 WHERE A FORMER HUMANE SOCIETY VOLUNTEER AND SOCIETY BOARD PRESIDENT WAS ALLOWED TO BRING HOME ANIMALS THAT THEY DIDN'T WANT TO PUT DOWN OR TRAIN

THE DELAWARE COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY ALLOWED PEOPLE TO ADOPT VICIOUS AND AGGRESSIVE DOGS INSTEAD OF EUTHANIZING OR TRYING TO TRAIN THE ANIMALS AS VETERINARIANS RECOMMENDED

Thurs - April 12, 2012 - According to the complaint Michael Prasse, former Humane Society volunteer and society board president, brought to his home animals that were aggressive and that the Humane Society didn't want to train or put down.

Current board president Kim White, said she could not speak to what happened in the past, but said that's not happening now.  She acknowledged that the old policy on aggressive dogs was lacking, but said it was changed.

"IT WAS LAX IN DEALING WITH AGGRESSIVE DOGS AND IN LETTING THEM ON THE ADOPTION FLOOR AND LETTING THEM GO OUT TO THE PUBLIC.  WE CHANGED THAT IMMEDIATELY.  WE DIDN'T FEEL THAT WAS APPROPRIATE."

The Prasse's owned 2 dogs that were especially problem dogs - Sadie, a German Shepherd Mix and Bandit, a Cattle Dog Mix.  Both these dogs exhibited signs of aggression while at the shelter in 2009..  Bandit had been returned twice after he snapped and  growled at his adoptive families, the lawsuit says.  In one of the incidences, a dog owned by Michael Prasse, attacked a man and a teenager and their dogs in their Lewis center neighborhood.

Attorney Kort Gatterdam said, "OUR VIEW IS THAT PRASSE AND OTHER MEMBERS OF THE HUMANE SOCIETY TOOK IT UPON THEMSELVES THAT THESE DOGS WERE NOT EUTHANIZED, OR WHEN VETS WERE RECOMMENDING THEY WERE EUTHANIZED, THEY GAVE THEM TO PRASSE SO THEY WOULDN'T BE.  THE WAY HE KEPT THE DOGS LED TO BOTH ATTACKS HERE.  HE DIDN'T DO WHAT YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO DO WITH A DANGEROUS ANIMAL.

The lawsuit says that Sadie attacked James Allen and his Yorkshire terrier in May 2010.  Later that year, in October, Sadie attacked a 13-year-old girl and her Yorkshire Terrier-Poodle Mix.  In both cases, the dogs were severely injured and their owners needed medical attention.

Amy Werling, whose now-14-year-old daughter was attacked with her dog Burtus, said she doesn't even let her children walk by the Prasses' house anymore, fearful of a repeat incident.

SHE SAYS, "I REALLY WANT TO SEE THE PRACTICES OF THAT HUMANE SOCIETY CHANGE CONCERNING VICIOUS DOGS.  THIS HAS TO STOP."

COMMENT:  AS ALWAYS IN ARTICLES LIKE THIS,  I WONDER WHAT THE "MIX" WAS IN THE GERMAN SHEPHERD "MIX" AND THE CATTLE DOG "MIX" ???????

COLLETTVILLE BC CANADA - PIT BULL TAKES A POODLE OUT OF AN 18-YEAR-OLD'S ARMS AND JUST ABOUT KILLED IT - ITS NECK RIPPED 3/4'S WAY AROUND !!!

PitbullWEB.jpg

Weds - Apr 11, 2012 -  A poodle  named "BAILEY" was gripped between the jaws of a  PIT BULL  Saturday about 7 pm as five men and a golden retriever attempted to free it.

Margie Honeywell's family and friends were outside when a PIT BULL  appeared in an alley.  Her 18-year-old son went to get their poodle and he picked it up and the Pit Bull started lunging at her son.  Her son began spinning in circles trying to keep her Poodle out of the Pit Bull's reach and finally the Pit Bull got him.

Four other men attempted to free the Poodle from the animal's mouth, but were unable.  It wasn't until one of the men's golden retriever came running that the Pit bull dropped the Poodle, which was bleeding from its neck.

Honeywell's vet was out of town helping ranchers with calving near Mamette Lake.  She drove to him and arrived about 2 hours after her Poodle was attacked. The bites barely missed the poodle's jugular.  He is now stitched up and "full of drain tubes."

Honeywell called City of Merritt Bylaw Services Officer Bob Davis, who is investigating.  She says this dog is still running around somewhere and everyone in Collettville has seen it a lot.  She fears the animal could seriously hurt or kill a young child.
