Police found the body of Scott Hammond, 48, on Monday in his Tahmoor home, south of Sydney. He was well known to police and everyone knew he had many enemies. Acting Superintendent Danny Doherty said,
“IT WAS A TARGETED INCIDENT AND MAY HAVE BEEN A RETALIATION ATTACK ON MR. HAMMOND.”
Hammond pleaded guilty 12 months ago to using his PIT BULL TERRIERS – CHOCKA AND GIRLIE – to attack and wound a teenage boy and 3 men in 3 separate incidents. He was given a 7-month suspended sentence and ordered to pay $14,336 and DESTROY BOTH ANIMALS…..
HE WAS ALSO BANNED FROM OWNING A DOG. BUT HE NOT ONLY HAD THIS PIT BULL THAT WAS FOUND PARALYZED….HE ALSO OWNED A VARIETY OF DIFFERENT WILDLIFE AND A WILDLIFE RESCUE HAD TO BE CALLED IN.
Detectives have yet to establish if the PIT BULL defended him during the bashing, and if any DNA might have been transferred to the dog. They also don’t know if the PIT BULL was paralyzed before or during the attack on Hammond. Police have not identified a person of interest and hope someone in the community would know who it is.

THE FIRST WORDS OUT OF MY MOUTH ON THIS STORY IS: LET DEAD DOGS LIE. KNOWING WHO BASHED HIM AND WHY THEY DID IT MIGHT BE MORE UNPLEASANT THEN NOT KNOWING. EVERY NOW AND THEN IT’S BETTER JUST TO LET THINGS GO.
