KELLER TX - 2 PIT BULLS ATTACKED AUSTIN DYE, 13, IN APRIL - THE HERO THAT CAME TO HIS AID TO SAVE HIS LIFE RECEIVED AN AWARD
In April Larry Foster was driving his car and came upon AUSTIN DYE, 13, being attacked by 2 PIT BULLS. Foster jumped out of his car and charged at the dogs in an attempt to scare them away. Fortunately, his actions stopped the life-threatening attack and the dogs retreated. Fearing that the dogs would return, Mr. Foster helped move the injured youth into his car and drove him home as he called 911.
Once Austin was taken to the hospital, Foster worked with animal service officers and police to locate and apprehend the dogs.
After 2 surgeries Austin has recovered from his injuries. During the May 21 City Council meeting, Larry Foster was awarded the city's second Civilian Lifesaving Award --
"He exhibited incredible bravery that day and his quick, decisive actions probably saved the life of that boy. That day, Mr. Foster was A TRUE HERO".........
MR. FOSTER SPEAKS:
"THEY SAY IT TAKES A VILLAGE, WELL I SAW THE VILLAGE SHOW UP THAT DAY. IT WAS THE PARAMEDICS, THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, THE FIREMEN AND THE ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICERS......I WANT TO THANK OUR FIRST RESPONDERS. DIVINE BLESSINGS, THESE PEOPLE DO EVERY DAY. IT'S A NORMAL COURSE OF EVENTS."
MY COMMENT: THIS IS SUCH A WONDERFUL STORY. BUT I WOULD LIKE TO ADD THAT THE PEOPLE MISSING FROM THIS "VILLAGE" ARE THE CITY OR COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WHO SHOULD BE FORMING ORDINANCES TO GUARD AGAINST CHILDREN EVER BEING SUBJECTED TO A PIT BULL OR OTHER VICIOUS UNDOG ATTACK.
THE NUMBER OF SENIORS HOLDING UP IN THEIR HOMES AFRAID TO GO OUT BECAUSE OF VICIOUS DOGS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD KEEPS GROWING . THE NUMBER OF MAULINGS, AMPUTATIONS, AND SHREDDED UNUSABLE LIMBS KEEPS CLIMBING. THE NUMBER OF DEATHS BY PIT BULLS AND A FEW OTHER DOG BREEDS CONTINUES TO GROW. WHEN WILL OUR LAW MAKERS JOIN IN THE VILLAGE TO KEEP OUR CITIZENS SAFE FROM THIS SCOURGE ON OUR NEIGHBORHOODS?????
