HIGHLANDS TX - 3 PIT BULL MIXES ARE TERRORIZING A MINIATURE HORSE FARM SO FAR KILLING 8 HORSES AND A DONKEY

ON THANKSGIVING NIGHT 3 DOGS THAT APPEARED TO BE PIT BULLS OR PIT BULL MIXES  ATTACKED A HERD OF ABOUT 100 MINIATURE HORSES ON THE RANCH OF JEANNE MCCLANAHAN, 54. SHE GREW UP IN HIGHLANDS AND HAS RAISED HORSES FOR 26 YEARS.



"THEY OUTRIGHT KILLED 3 AND MAIMED AND INJURED 4 MORE TO THE POINT THEY HAD TO BE PUT DOWN.  TWO DONKEYS WERE ALSO INJURED AND ONE OF THEM WAS PUT DOWN.  THE DOGS ARE RIPPING THEIR EARS OFF AND RIPPING OUT THEIR THROATS.  THEY WERE WORTH A TOTAL OF ABOUT $18,000 BECAUSE THEY WERE EITHER SHOW HORSES OR BROOD MARES.  ANIMAL CONTROL SAID THEY WOULD GET SOMEBODY OUT HERE WHEN THEY HAD SOMEBODY IN THE AREA.  BUT THE DOGS CAME BACK ON CHRISTMAS AND KILLED ANOTHER HORSE.  I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT I'M THE ONLY ONE OUT HERE HAVING PROBLEMS."



TWO DAYS AFTER CHRISTMAS ANIMAL CONTROL DELIVERED A TRAP FOR MCCLANAHAN TO TRY TO CAPTURE THE DOGS ALIVE. SO FAR THEY HAVE SUCCESSFULLY AVOIDED IT.

LAST FRIDAY ANNE ZIEGLER, 68, AND HER FRIEND WERE WALKING SIMON ON A LEASH BY HER SIDE ON NORTHEAST MASON STREET NEAR 59TH AVENUE WHEN A LOOSE PIT BULL SHOWED UP, RAISED UP ON ITS BACK LEGS AND PUSHED SIMON TO THE GROUND AND PINNED HIM THERE LOCKING ITS JAWS ON HIS STOMACH TEARING HIS INSIDES OUT. 

"SIMON WAS OBEDIENCE TRAINED AND DID NOTHING TO PROVOKE THE PIT BULL. THE PIT BULL JUST WALKED OUT CALMLY AND TOOK HIM DOWN AS IF HE'D DONE IT A HUNDRED TIMES BEFORE. I WAS SCREAMING AS LOUDLY AND AS DEEPLY AS I COULD BECAUSE I WANTED PEOPLE TO KNOW. SIMON SOMEHOW RECOGNIZED THAT I COULD NOT HEAR VERY WELL, AND HE WOULD BARK TO ALERT ME IF THE TELEPHONE RANG OR IF I GOT A TEXT MESSAGE.  HE WAS MY BEST FRIEND FOR 5 YEARS AND THIS IS HEART BREAKING.  THERE'S NO WAY TO EVER REPLACE A PET WHO'S YOUR DEAREST COMPANION.  I MADE THE DECISION THAT I'D RATHER HAVE HIM DIE IN MY ARMS THAN TO LOSE HIM IN SURGERY OR HAVE HIM DIE IN A CAGE. I'M MAKING A MEMORIAL WREATH TO HANG ON THE FENCE AROUND MY FRONT YARD.  HIS PICTURE AND A RED GLOVE HE USED TO ALWAYS CARRY AROUND IN HIS MOUTH, WILL BE ATTACHED. On Monday 2 PIT BULL MIXES dug under a fence and attacked a miniature horse bought for a granddaughter for a Christmas present last year.  One neighbor who has raised horses for 20 years says it was the worst attack he's seen in his life.  A neighbor's pit bull has been quarantined and they are looking for the 2nd one.  BUT IF THIS IS THE FIRST ATTACK BY THIS PIT BULL - IT WILL BE RETURNED TO ITS OWNER !!!!!!!!!!!!

GLEN BURNIE, ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY MD - 2 LOOSE PIT BULLS ATTACKED KATHY HIETT, 66, AND HER 2 SMALL PETS AS THEY WALKED ON A LEASH - HERO- ANDY WERNER CAME TO HER AID WITH A PLASTIC CANDY CANE

Anne Arundel County police are searching for two dangerous dogs that attacked Kathy Hiett, 66, in Glen Burnie Sunday night. Her finger was bitten in two as she wrapped her arms around her dog's neck to defend it.  It’s a particularly tough loss for the piano player who’s the musical director of her church.

She was walking her pet dogs, Kali and Rudy, on Lincoln Avenue when two unleashed dogs knocked Kali to the ground and attacked.

“Thank God we are alive. My dogs were screaming and those two dogs were relentless.  I hope police find those 2 dogs."

A neighbor, Andy Werner was inside his home when he heard someone screaming, "Help, Help, Help". He got Hiett and Kali into his house.  Then Hiett told him her other dog Rudy was still out there and he ran out to help Rudy—armed with the first thing he could grab: a plastic candy cane. He managed to beat the attacking dogs back........ AND.....

“It definitely concerns us that kids could have been on the street at this time, riding their bikes, and two stray  pit bulls  attack,” said Anne Arundel County Police Lt. T.J. Smith.

“A child would not have survived what happened to my dog last night,” Hiett said.

As for Hiett, she vows this injury won’t stop her from playing the piano again.

“I’ll be able to play. I’ll manage to play because that’s what I love to do,” she said.

Hiett will undergo hand surgery on Friday but she will play piano at her church Tuesday and Wednesday.

CLEVES, HAMILTON COUNTY OH - PIT BULLS ATTACK A MAN WHO WENT TO A HOME TO BUY SOMETHING

Police said  a man went to  a home on Main Street to buy something and the owner of the home tied up his  PIT BULLS   while the man was there.  But after the owner thought the man had left, he released the dogs and that's when they attacked the victim. He was bitten on the arm and leg. The victim ran to a store nearby and the clerk called 911.

Sources told WLWT News 5 that the SPCA went to the house to investigate, but didn't take the dogs.

Three people were attacked by their pit bull in Lancaster Monday. The incident occurred in the victims' home on the 45000 block of 3rd Street East. Two women and one man had to be rushed to the hospital. Their conditions have not been released. One of the dog's owners described how shocking it was when the family pet suddenly went wild:

"Me and her were talking in the living room, and the dog just flew past me, jumped up, and just bit her, for no reason. So, I started punching him, and he wouldn't let go, so I panicked, and I ran outside, and grabbed a bat. When I came back in, he was attacking my wife's roommate, dragging her across the living room floor, and I just started hitting him in the head with the bat."

Deputies responded and killed the pit bull.

MURRIETTA CA - AN AKITA ATTACKED A 3-YEAR-OLD BOY WHEN THE OWNER TOLD THE BOY HE COULD PET IT

A 3-year-old boy was bitten by an AKITA  at a Lowe's garden center on Madison Avenue Sunday.  Police say that the dog's owner let the boy pet the dog when it lashed out biting the child on the jaw, neck, forehead and below his right eye.  The owner grabbed his dog and left quickly.  The boy was taken to the Inland Valley Regional Medical Center where he received about 50 stitches to close his wounds.  He was then transferred to Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego and is in stable condition.

Witnesses described the man and his dog and it was determined that he was a regular customer at Lowes. He told police he fled because he was afraid his dog would be taken away. The Akita is in quarantine and it is not known at this time if charges will be filed against the owner.

CAMDEN NJ - A PIT BULL WAS ORDERED TO ATTACK POLICEMEN THAT WERE CHASING DRUG TRANSACTION SUSPECTS - ONE OFFICER WAS BITTEN

Officers Brandon Galloza and Michael Ross  were on patrol Thursday night when they saw 2 men in what appeared to be a drug transaction.  When approached the men, Thomas Wright and Tajay Wilson, both 19,  ran. The 2 policemen chased them into Wright's house on the 1800 block of Filmore Street  and they were blocked by another 21-year-old man, Quazeem Jackson.  That's when Wright repeatedly commanded a  PIT BULL   to attack by pointing to the officers and shouting, "SIC 'EM".  The pit bull charged and bit officer Galloza on the right leg.  All 3 men were charged and animal control quarantined the dog which will be held for 7 days.

A Bullhead City man has died from injuries he suffered when he and his wife tried  to break up a fight between two of their dogs. The Bullhead City Police Department says 64-year-old Thomas J. Vick  died from his injuries after being brought to a hospital. His wife was flown to a Las Vegas hospital for treatment.

Police say Vick and his wife tried to break up a fight Saturday evening between a larger dog and a smaller dog. Both were attacked by the larger dog. The dogs are being held at the Bullhead City Animal Control facility.

MY COMMENT:  THE LAST SENTENCE IN THIS STORY SAYS -- THE CHILD WAS TREATED FOR MINOR INJURIES AT A HOSPITAL......THERE AIN'T NOTHING MINOR ABOUT THIS ATTACK.  IF THAT CHILD DIDN'T HAVE SEVERE INJURIES TO HER LEG, IT WAS BECAUSE THAT DAMN DOG DIDN'T QUITE GET ITS GRIP GOING AND GOT HER PANTS LEG INSTEAD.  OTHER WISE HER LEG WOULD BE BROKEN.  THIS MOTHER IS A HERO, ALL THE MEN WHO TRIED TO HELP ARE HEROS....BUT THANK GOD FOR THE BIG GUY THAT WEILDED THE SHOPPING CART.

Pit Bull lovers righteously defend the "misunderstood" breed, but Charles Leerhsen, whose dog was recently attacked by one, says
 they are natural-born killers.

Do you know Wheaten Terriers? They have a reputation for sweetness, and,
as the owner of a 3-year-old female Wheaten named Frankie, I can attest
that besides being eccentric -- mine barks and spins like a pinwheel when I
scramble eggs or charge my Kindle -- they are indeed cuddly and kind.  This
is the breed after all that invented the effusive "Wheaten greetin'," and
dispenses it willy-nilly to friends, strangers and second-story men alike.   

Do you know Pit Bulls? Just before 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 28, I
was walking Frankie at Clinton and Baltic Streets in the Cobble Hill section 
of Brooklyn, a time and a place where you can hear the Nikkei drop, when an
unleashed brown and white Pit Bull exploded out of a car and, rumbling with
blood-lust, charged us.  The next minutes are a blur, but I remember the
snarling male pit bull digging its teeth into Frankie’s chest, her mournful
sobs and the Pit Bull’s vacant eyes as I drove my fist between them.
Eventually, the Pit Bull's cohort got a leash on the animal and, while I
tried to comfort my blood-and-poop streaked buddy, two plainclothes
policemen materialized (Yay!) and gave the man a ticket -- for not having
his dog on leash (Huh?).  The Pit Bull belonged to his sister in Washington
D.C., he told the cops, and, he added, "It doesn't get along well with
other dogs."  You don't say.

Frankie and I were lucky compared to most animals and people who will be

on the bad end of a Pit Bull this week. She was treated at the veterinary

hospital for severe lacerations, had to stay over two nights, and may need

surgery for a torn ligament. But she will survive in some fashion. The Pit

Bull’s owners say they will pay Frankie’s vet bills, and we will see if they
are as good as their word.  As aficionados of that controversial
breed they are, after all, sensitive people who see misunderstood
creatures where logical lummoxes like me, who keep getting hung up
on the death and misery pit bulls cause daily, see something else --
namely vicious beasts who are allowed to live and propagate so that
certain sad individuals can proclaim their moral superiority.  To the
Pit Bull lover, nothing says, "I am special" like his own pretensions to
Pit-Bull love.

Do I sound angry? I'm not mad at the dog who attacked Frankie or even
at the highly unattractive man from Chestnut Hill Mass. who let
him get off the leash.  

What agitates me is the sheer number of people, groups and Web sites
that defend Pit Bulls from those who would criticize and legislate against them.
As hyper-sensitive to criticism as Scientologists, Pit Bull proponents tend to
fire back before any shots are fired in their direction, insisting that their dogs
are no worse than any other breed and indeed probably better.  "If it ain't pit
it ain't shit," says a woman in one pro-Pit Bull Facebook group.

These people are entitled to their stance.  What needs to be noted, though,
is that the "forces" they are railing against or the tidal wave of pending
"breed specific" legislation they fear are largely figments of their own self-
aggrandizing paranoia.  The anti-pit bull "movement," such as it is, seems to come down mostly to the scattered victims who speak out, and try to get local
laws passed, when a Pit Bull attacks them, someone they know (or, if the
attack is fatal, knew) or their pet.  If anyone is working round the clock to
besmirch the reputation of Pit Bulls it is Pit Bulls themselves.

I've developed a kind of parlor trick since Frankie was attacked.  I will now
go to another screen and Google "pit bull attacks."  Limiting myself to the
last 5 days -- a full week would bring too many hits -- I see that a
65-year-old woman died of heart failure during a Pit Bull attack in South Carolina, that 2 Pit Bulls "invaded a home" and killed a dog in Colorado,
that a Pit Bull "chewed up" a Yorkie in Missouri, a Golden Retriever was
severely injured by a Pit Bull in Indiana, and that 2 Indianapolis police
officers were bitten by Pit Bulls on successive days.  Meanwhile, the Jackson
City Utah council failed to pass proposed Pit Bull restrictions, although
the council "expressed sympathy for the death of Anatasha Bingham."

Statistics show that Pit Bulls are by far the most dangerous breed of
dogs, involved in several attacks on people and animals in the U.S. each
day.  Yet their supporters are numerous and cross a wide political spectrum.
On the right you have the rednecks, who surround themselves with obnoxious
and dangerous things like guns, big-ass vehicles, body fat and killer dogs,
and who dare others to say something.  On the left are certain PC urban
professionals who long to tell the world that they are super-sensitive and
understanding souls, but who lack the imagination and intelligence to come
up with anything more worthy of their support than the sort of dog that
killed three-year-old Omar Martinez a few weeks ago in Apple Valley
California.

After Frankie's mauling a Pit Bull owner we know (and like) informed
my wife and me that the attack was "natural" because "dogs fight in the
wild."  Other Pit Bull proponents have assured us that it was not the breed
of the attacker, but the absence of a leash, that was key to Frankie's violent
encounter.  To those well-meant but worn-out bromides I say, first, what
wild?  Where is this raw and savage land where Pit Bulls and Wheatens are
duking it out?  In any case, this was not a fight or a display or dominance --

DALLAS TX - A LOOSE MEDIUM-SIZED DOG ATTACKED A 4-YEAR-OLD CHILD IN THE FACE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT JUST FEET OUTSIDE HER HOME

Randall Byars says he had walked outside at 2 am Friday morning to take out the trash before going to bed when his granddaughter, Cashlyn, 4,  wandered out behind him.  He suddenly heard her scream....like a crazy scream....and when he turned back toward the door to look, he saw a dog moving away from the girl. Family members raced outside and also saw what looked like a medium-sized, dark colored dog running away from Cashlyn.  The child was on the ground balled up and bleeding. They picked her up and drove her to the hospital where doctors had her airlifted to Children's Medical Center. A plastic surgeon there stitched her wounds on her face to try to reduce any scarring.

Dallas Animal Services said an officer and a manager searched the neighborhood looking for the dog responsible but couldn't find it....

HYANNIS MA - AN AMERICAN STAFFORDSHIRE TERRIER RAN LOOSE AND ATTACKED AND KILLED A BELOVED YORKIE "BOBBY"

At a hearing Wednesday at Barnstable Town Hall, Geraldo Cardosa of Delta Street in Hyannis described to Natural Resources Division hearing officer, Doug Kalweit, how he was walking his daughter's small Yorkie, Bobby, through his neighborhood when suddenly 2 dogs charged at him. He told the hearing officer that he believes strongly that the attacking dog, Princess, should be put down for the safety of the public.

On December 3 the American Staffordshire Terrier, Princess, attacked a small Yorkie, Bobby, as Geraldo Cardoso was walking it for his daughter, Hayara, 18, who was away at college.  He picked up Bobby to protect him, but the pit jumped up at him and ripped Bobby open.... killing him.  As Princess and another dog circled him, a neighbor called police. Bobby died in Cardosa's arms.

Princess belongs to David Henning and the mutant was staying with his mother Christy Sharp.....when the attack occurred......

THE NUTTER DAVID HENNING TOLD THE HEARING OFFICER:

SO IT SEEMS BY THIS LAST STATEMENT THAT THE "GRANDMOTHER - CYNTHIA HENNING WAS LEFT IN CHARGE OF THE MUTANT PRINCESS!!!!!

The hearing officer said he'd make a recommendation about Princess to the town manager, who will make a decision in about a week.  The options range from restrictions, such as requiring Princess to be on a leash at all times or keeping her behind a fence inspected by the animal control officer -----to euthanization.  Officials can sentence dogs to death if they are deemed to be too dangerous.

HAYARA CARDOSA  SAYS SHE FEELS BAD ABOUT WANTING THE DOG EUTHANIZED, BUT SHE FEELS THAT IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THIS DOG DOES NOT DO THIS AGAIN. PRINCESS IS STILL YOUNG AND IS GOING TO GET EVEN STRONGER AND LARGER, SHE ADDED.

CARLSBAD, TOM GREEN COUNTY TX - 5 PIT BULLS ATTACKED A 28-YEAR-OLD MAN RIDING HIS BIKE

Authorities say a 28-year-old West Texas man,  JOHN GUTIERREZ,  was hospitalized with puncture wounds to his arms and legs after being attacked by five pit bulls while riding his bicycle. Chief Deputy Dale Pearce of the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office says that the man was attacked Thursday afternoon in the small community of Carlsbad, located about 16 miles northwest of San Angelo. Pearce says deputies found the owner of one of the dogs, 25-YEAR-OLD - MARIO DEHOYOS  -  but were unable to find the owners of the other four. He says the owner who was tracked down was advised to quarantine the animal. The county has no leash laws and no animal control officer.

ZANESVILLE OH - A NEIGHBOR'S STAFFORDSHIRE BULL TERRIER ATTACKED A FRIEND WHEN HE WENT TO THE HOME TO CHECK ON A CHILD

Police were called to a residence in Zanesville on Thursday to a report of a man being bitten by a STAFFORDSHIRE BULL TERRIER.  After speaking with the victim, Michael Slaughter, 58, who lives at 46 Green Street, officers then called the County Dog Warden Bryan Catlin to the scene of the attack at Josh Davis' home at 109 Green Street.  Catlin says that he has been at Davis' residence before...........

"AFTER HE WAS ATTACKED AND INJURED BY HIS OWN DOG.  IT BROKE HIS ARM IN 2 PLACES AND THEN THE DOG ATTACKED ME," STATES DOG WARDEN BRYAN CATLIN.

In the attack on Thursday Slaughter says that he had walked down to Josh Davis' house to talk.  He walked into the mobile home and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier "got through a hole in its cage"  and bit him multiple times and he was taken to the hospital by an ambulance and received stitches in 5 places. There were 2 puppies also in the home.  Warden Catlin cited Davis  for 3 counts of failing to license a dog and 1 count of dog at large - all misdemeanors. Catlin also informed Davis that if he purchases licenses for the dogs in the next couple of weeks, the judge would take that into consideration. Davis is scheduled to appear in court January 10.

POLICE SAID THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT WOULD BE IN CONTACT WITH DAVIS BECAUSE OF THE INCIDENT AND THE FACT THAT THERE ARE CHILDREN LIVING IN THE HOME.

EDGEWATER, ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY MD - A PIT BULL NAMED TYSON INVADED A BACKYARD TO ATTACK A MAN AND HIS 12-YEAR-OLD CHIHUAHUA

Police say a man and his 12-year-old Chihuahua were both injured Sunday in a PIT BULL  attack in the 400 block of Lakeview Avenue. The victim told police that two pit bulls came into his fenced-in yard at around 2 p.m.  and one of them attacked his Chihuahua, Charlie. The victim said he separated the animals and threw the aggressive pit bull over the fence.

The man received cuts on his hands while separating the dogs, and Charlie was victim to puncture wounds and possible leg and neck injuries. Officers searched the neighborhood and found the aggressive pit bull named "Tyson" with its  18-year-old owner about one block away.  

Charlie was taken to the Anne Arundel Veterinary Emergency Clinic to be treated for his injuries, and was kept over night. Tyson was taken into custody by Animal Control.

LEXINGTON KY - 2 PIT BULLS RUN LOOSE AND ATTACKED A GERMAN SHEPHERD TIED UP IN ITS OWN YARD

Another  PIT BULL ATTACK   happened in Lexington within 2 days of the last attack.  According to officials, police were called to Lin Wal Drive Friday morning for a pit bull being shot.  Neighbors said that 2 pit bulls ran loose and were attacking a German Shepherd  that was tied up in its own yard.  The caretaker of the German Shepherd shot one of the pit bulls killing it.  The other one ran off and was captured later. The owner was charged with  animals running at large.

In the last attack animal control says that a woman was attacked by a pit bull as she was walking down the sidewalk.  She suffered a severe bite wound to her arm.  The pit bull was impounded and they are still trying to locate the owner of that mutant.

FREMONT CA - A STRAY PIT BULL GOES BERSERK BITING A GRANDFATHER, GRANDSON, BASKETBALL, TETHER BALL, SHOES, CHASED POLICE AND FIREMEN AND TOOK A BATON FROM A POLICEMAN AND DESTROYED IT !!!

Officers were dispatched to a home on Blaisdell Way about 5 p.m. Saturday after a homeowner dialed 911 to report a gray and white pit bull had attacked two people. The dog bit a man on his hand as the man had his hand on his grandson's shoulder, and then bit the man's grandson on the foot.

While on the phone with dispatch, the caller said that the dog was attacking "anything and everything in their yard" including a basketball, a tether ball and shoes. Residents were locking themselves in their vehicles and homes for their safety. The victims took cover in a neighbor's home but  they needed medical aid.

When a police officer arrived, the dog immediately charged him. The officer used his baton to keep a safe distance and attempted to get the dog into the back of the patrol car...... 

BUT THE PIT BULL TOOK HOLD OF THE BATON AND RAN OFF WITH IT DESTROYING IT!!!

Fremont firefighters also arrived on scene unaware that the dog was still loose in the area. When they exited their truck to provide medical treatment to the victims the dog also charged them. Two firefighters scrambled into the truck cab, while the third was forced to climb up on top of the truck.

The pit bull then re-focused his efforts and charged the police officer once more and the officer shot the dog one time. The dog died at the scene.

The dog had no tags and residents in the area said they had not seen the dog before. The victims were transported to the hospital and treated. Anyone with information about the dog is asked to call police.

GLORIA SNOWDEN, 72,  is recovering from serious bite wounds after being mauled all over her body by loose dogs when she walked to her mailbox just a short distance from her house.  The woman is deaf and did not hear the dogs coming from a neighbor's house. She managed to get back in her home and called a friend for help. As police arrived at the scene in the 4500 block of Apollo Road off Cheney Highway, the 2 large dogs circled them and lunged at officers.

Two of the dogs that are said to be responsible for the multiple bites are a  BLACK MOUTH CUR AND A PIT BULL/LAB MIX.  A THIRD DOG DESCRIBED AS A PUG, WAS NOT BELIEVED TO HAVE INSTIGATED THE ATTACK AND WAS RETURNED TO THE OWNER.

One of the large dogs was captured right away, and the other ran loose for several hours  and when it returned home, it was also turned over to animal control.  The owner was cited for "ATTACK CAUSING SEVERE INJURY" and was fined $1,120.  Police stated that the owners would not face criminal charges because they claimed someone broke into their house and let the dogs out.

Witnesses say  2 PIT BULLS  attacked a man as he rode his bike in front of a home, biting his legs and eventually pulling him off the bike. That's when Colby Patout and Debra Richard, another witness, sprang into action. Richard blocked traffic with her vehicle, and Patout grabbed his gun. 

"As he was trying to help, the dog was approaching him, and he shot. And from there it was just total chaos after that", says Richard. Patout goes on to say, "I just reacted. I knew my pistol was there, I grabbed it, jumped out the vehicle. I knew this guy needed his life saved at this point. I would want you to stop and do the same for me". A neighbor who helped the victim after the attack says his leg was seriously injured, and bleeding excessively. She says the victim his lucky to be alive. 

As for the man who fired shots at the dog? Lafayette Police say he will not face charges...his actions were in good faith, to save the life of the man being attacked, as well as his own. "This is what our fire arms and the United States is all about. Is saving lives", says Patout. "I just hope that doesn't happen to someone else. And if someone sees something like this happen, stop. Just stop", says Richard. 
As for the fate of the owner of the pit bulls? Animal Control says they now have one of the pit bulls, and the case is under investigation. If criminal charges are to be filed against the owner, those charges will come from Lafayette Police.

As they continued to bite and take down the horse, he picked up a piece of plywood and smashed one of the pits but it didn't phase it. Then he grabbed several pieces of firewood stacked in his front yard and wielded them at the pit bulls, but they still would not release......

A DRIVER IN A DODGE TRUCK SAW THE ATTACK AND STEERED ONTO GLADIOLA CLOSE TO THE ATTACK AND THE POOR HORSE WAS SO PANICKED THAT AS THE DRIVER OPENED THE CAB DOOR, THE HORSE STUCK ITS HEAD AND FRONT HOOVES INSIDE IN AN ATTEMPT TO GET AWAY FROM THE MAULING PIT BULLS.



Police and Animal Control were called and they stated that the dogs would be confiscated on Monday. Police state they believe the horse......and the dogs..... all belong to the same owner.....the wounded horse did receive bandages, penicillin and antibiotics.

UPDATE:  THE DOGS HAVE BEEN IMPOUNDED

Janet Kinsey was walking her 2 Chuhuahuas about 2 weeks ago on her sidewalk when they were attacked. Two large GERMAN SHEPHERDS  picked up one of her little Chihuahuas,  9-year-old COCO,  and ripped the leash from her hands and carried it away.  Her other dog, 12-year-old Tinkerbell, who is Coco's mother, survived the attack.

Police records show that the same 2 German Shepherds are responsible for another fatal dog attack in November 2012. The owner, RODNEY PATTERSON,  was cited once again  - only for a misdemeanor of "DOGS AT LARGE".  It seems that only in a situation where a dog has attacked a person will that dog be immediately removed from a home and placed in a 10-day quarantine period.

But Melissa Gable of the Maricopa County A nimal Care and Control says there is something that can be done.  "You can go to the city of Glendale and file a specific petition to try and have a dog or dogs declared vicious. A judge will hear evidence and take appropriate action, potentially up to and including euthanizing the offending dogs."

RODNEY PATTERSON WILL BE IN COURT ON DECEMBER 30 TO FACE THE MISDEMEANOR CHARGES.  IF FOUND GUILTY, HE COULD FACE A MAXIMUM OF $2,500 IN FINES AND SIX MONTHS IN JAIL.

Bob Stilz and his son took their dogs to the dog area at Deer Lick Park in Douglasville and they were taking pictures. Suddenly a  PIT BULL MIX  made a bee line at his female dog latching onto her face and hanging on. Stilz fought for his pet and in the process got bitten by the pit mix.  He was bleeding  and went to the emergency room to get stitches and failed to get information from the pit bull mix's owner about rabies vaccinations.  He needs to confirm if the dog has had its shots or he will have to get rabies shots which can cost thousands of dollars.  Otherwise, he says that if the owner doesn't come forward and he has to take the shots, he is going to go after him......

His injuries were severe and he was losing lots of blood.  Paramedics rushed him to the hospital.  The dogs were still on the loose.  The Tucson Police Department found the dogs in an alley.  When the pit bulls charged them, an officer opened fire killing them.  The pit bulls' owner is facing at least 6 "misdemeanor" charges: 2 counts of no dog license, 2 counts of no proof of vaccination and 2 counts of biting animal.

LEXINGTON KY - A PIT BULL RAN LOOSE AND ATTACKED A WOMAN WALKING ON THE SIDEWALK

Police say a woman is recovering in the hospital after she was attacked by a PIT BULL on Kees Road Thursday afternoon.  First, a neighbor spotted the loose pit bull roaming around and sniffing her garbage and she called animal control.  In the meantime, another woman that lived across the street was walking on the sidewalk with a container of food.  The loose pit bull charged the woman and bit down on her arm.  A witness was watching the attack and she rushed out of her home and grabbed the victim and pulled her inside her home.    The ground is stained with blood where the incident happened.  The pit bull will be quarantined for 10 days and animal control is still investigating.The woman needed stitches on her arm. The extent of her injuries are not known at this time.

JACKSONVILLE TX - A 3-YEAR-OLD BOY WAS ATTACKED BY AT LEAST ONE OF TWO FAMILY DOGS - HE WAS AIRLIFTED TO A DALLAS HOSPITAL WITH SEVERE INJURIES

A 3-year-old boy, Konan Dagley, was airlifted to a Dallas Hospital Sunday evening after being attacked by at least one of  two dogs in his backyard.  Police Chief Reece Daniel said the family was going to take a walk the boy ran outside ahead of his family to the backyard and when the family got there, one of the dogs had him. On Monday his mother reported that he is stable with a breathing tube and ....had suffered a stroke.



The dogs are reported to be a PIT BULL MIX AND A LAB MIX.  Not knowing if the Lab Mix had also attacked Konen, Jacksonville Animal Control euthanized both animals and immediately sent them off for rabies testing.

DEEP RUN, LENOIR COUNTY NC - A PIT BULL THAT HAD BEEN MENACING AND CHASING KIDS IN A NEIGHBORHOOD FINALLY BROKE LOOSE AND ATTACKED A GROUP OF COUSINS PLAYING BALL IN THEIR YARD

Family members were visiting at an uncle's house on Saturday when the younger children wanted to play outside......The uncle warned them:

"COME BACK INSIDE IF THE NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR LETS HIS PIT BULL OUTSIDE ON ITS LEASH."

The uncle, Leonard "Shorty" Spence, says that his 11-year-old daughter had to climb on top of a trailer to escape the pit bull once and another time after it broke off its leash, it prevented her from getting off her school bus.  But it had not bitten her....yet.

All the cousins were throwing ball in the front yard and then suddenly the pit bull was there in their yard.with no collar or leash.  Everybody started screaming in fear of the dog.  Ten-year-old Justin Strickland ran to the porch yelling that the pit bull was in the yard.  Jamie Wetherington, 9, ran screaming and the 2 of them made it in the house.  Braxton Penny, 9, was headed up the 5 steps to the porch  when the monster grabbed the 58-pound youngster off the porch and began swinging him around.

BRAD STRICTLAND, 16, says at first he was in shock.  Then he rushed over and grabbed the dog in one arm and his cousin with the other and threw the dog off.  Braxton Penny was able to scramble  to the porch and into the house as Spence, his cousin, was coming out the door and the dog charged at him twice.  Then the pit began charging at Krista Spence, 10, and Haleigh Daniel, 12, who were still outside.  Brad Strictland got in between the girls and the dog and kicked and yelled at it when it got close  to one of the girls.  The girls got inside safely and the dog went back to its yard.

Braxton Penny was taken by ambulance to Lenoir Memorial Hospital where he received 10 stitches where a chunk of flesh had been bitten from his arm.  The youngster says he was trying out for basketball, but now he want be able to do sports for a year.

The pit bull was quarantined by animal control they say it will be put down after 10 days. The children say that the pit bull owner and her daughter came out when they heard their pit bull growling and they began yelling at it but it paid no attention.  They all believe Brad Strickland was a HERO -- THEIR GUARDIAN ANGEL.
