PIT BULL INVOLVED IN ATTACK ON HIGHGROVE BOY
A 6-year-old Highgrove boy who was attacked by a dog earlier this week is recuperating but still in a lot of pain, according to his mother, Ashley McWilliams.
The boy, Christian, was reportedly playing inside a friend's garage on Monday when he was attacked by a 2-year-old male pit bull. The dog, who was not supposed have access to the garage, was quarantined.
Christian was taken to a local hospital for treatment, which included 100 stitches and intensive work on his right ear and right leg.
The dog was impounded Tuesday evening, according to a Riverside County Animal Services release:
"A hearing will be scheduled to determine if the owner of the dog can retain ownership with restrictions. Animal Services can also request that the dog be humanely euthanized after reviewing the incident in full."
The boy's family, which has been consoled on their respective Facebook pages by family and friends, has reportedly retained an attorney and plans to take legal action against the owner of the dog.
