LAS VEGAS NV - 2 LOOSE PIT BULLS BEGAN ATTACKING A MAN - THEY STARTED ATTACKING THE FIRST OFFICER THAT ARRIVED AND WAS RAMMED BY A SECOND OFFICERS SQUAD CAR - THEN OFFICERS SHOT THEM

One dog was killed and one was taken away after police responded to a dog attack that happened near Harmon Avenue and Boulder Highway Thursday afternoon.
An officer arrived to the 4700 block of Sheppard Drive around 12:45 p.m. where he encountered TWO PIT BULLS  attacking a man. 
Police said the dogs starting attacking the officer after he got out of his car to help. A second officer arrived on scene witnessing the attack and rammed the two dogs with his squad car, police said.
Metro reported that the dogs came back for a second attack on the officer, prompting the officers to shoot the dog. One died at the scene and the other ran away. 
Metro and Animal Control searched the area and found the second dog a short time later.
Police said the owners are cooperating with the investigation. They have not said whether the owners will face charges for the incident.
The man initially attacked by the dogs went to a hospital with minor injuries. The police officer was not harmed by the attacks.
