A 3-year-old Wichita boy has been released from the hospital after being bitten by a dog earlier this week.
The incident happened around 5 p.m. Tuesday at an apartment in the 500 block of West Central. Lt. Steve Kenney said an AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD MIX bit the boy on the head and arms.
Kenney said while the toddler is now out of the hospital, he will require follow-up treatment.
The dog belongs to a relative, and police are looking into whether the dog has a history of aggression.
The dog is currently under a 10-day quarantine and will likely be deemed dangerous, Kenney said. The owners will then have the option to either go through a dangerous dog hearing, to determine if they can get the dog back, or choose to have it euthanized.
It's not yet known if any criminal charges will be filed.
No names were released.
