FORT PIERCE FL - A CHOW MIX ATTACKED ITS OWNERS AND THEN GOT LOOSE IN A NEIGHBORHOOD - POLICE WERE FORCED TO SHOOT IT

A Fort Pierce dog was euthanized Wednesday a day after it attacked its owners.
The incident occurred at 3002 Avenue J at 6:22 p.m. Tuesday.
According to St. Lucie County Fire Rescue, police responded to a call from the dog’s owners who reported their dog attacked them and then got loose.
The dog's owners, a man and woman, were both taken to the hospital.
A Fort Pierce Police Department spokesman said one of their officers was forced to shoot the 4-year-old CHOW MIX  named Mo.
The officer later turned the dog over to animal care and control.
Police said the dog was euthanized because of the attack and the inability of the owners to treat the dog for the gunshot wounds.
The dog will now undergo rabies testing, but it will take a couple of weeks for the results.
Neighbors who witnessed the attack said the dog has made them feel uneasy in the past.
