HUNTSVILLE AL - A POLICE OFFICER WAS BITTEN BY ONE OF TWO PIT BULLS THAT CAME OUT OF A HOME WHERE THEY WERE RESPONDING TO A CALL OF A DOMESTIC SITUATION - THE OFFICER WAS FORCED TO SHOOT IT

WHNT News 19 has confirmed that a Huntsville Police officer shot a dog after responding to an apparent domestic situation.

Two officers approached the home in the 1500 block of Meadow Drive. Two large dogs, presumed to be PIT BULLS, went outside. Officers say one of the dogs bit an officer, who then shot and killed the dog. Animal Control officers took the other dog away.
HEMSI paramedics treated the bitten officer on the scene, then took him to the hospital to be checked out.
A woman who lives in the home was also taken to the hospital with neck injuries. She told police they were the result of the domestic violence incident.
Thaddeus Stewart
Police took her boyfriend, identified as Thaddeus Stewart into custody. He faces 3rd Degree Domestic Violence charges.
