LELAND NC - A 23-YEAR-OLD WOMAN WAS ATTACKED BY HER OWN DOG CAUSING INJURIES TO HER ARM AND CHEST

(WECT) -A woman was attacked by her dog Tuesday morning, according to the Brunswick County Sheriff's Department.

The incident took place on Palmers Branch Drive in Leland around 10:30 a.m. 
The 23-year-old victim sustained injuries to her arm and chest. The severity of her injuries is not immediately known, but she was transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center, according to authorities. 
The dog has been taken to Animal Control for the required quarantine period. After that, the owners will be contacted and allowed to determine what they would like to do from there.

No one else was injured in the attack.
