(AP) -- A three-year-old boy is being treated for facial injuries after he was attacked by a dog that had previously been declared vicious by police in New Bern.
Authorities say the child and his mother were visiting her fiance yesterday morning. Police say the boy was inside the house playing with toys on the floor when the PIT BULL attacked the child.
Police say the dog bit the child in the face. The mother pulled the dog off the child, the dog got away from the mother and attacked the child again.
The child was transported to Craven Regional Airport then airlifted to Pitt County Memorial Hospital. The boy's condition isn't immediately available.
The dog had been declared vicious after it attacked a New Bern City meter reader in the back yard of the home where the child was attacked.
