A babysitter has been sentenced to 10 years in jail after her dog mauled a four-year-old to death.
Jena Wright, 26, had been looking after Jordyn Arndt and her seven-year-old brother Aden in Prairie City, Iowa, when the fatal attack took place in April 2013.
She was convicted of child endangerment causing serious injury, neglect of a dependent person, assault on a police officer and interference with official act. Wright was sentenced to 10 years for the child endangerment charge, 10 years for the neglect, one year for the assault and two years for interference. The sentences will run concurrently, meaning she will likely serve 10 years behind bars.
Speaking to Jordyn's mother, Jessica, who she called her best friend, she said she was sorry for the loss of Jordyn and the hurt she had caused the family, KCCI News reports.
