Editor, The Beacon:
On Thursday, July 16, just before sunset, I took my two dogs to the Marina dog park in Edmonds. I do this almost daily. My Shepard mix, Tess, loves to swim in the Sound, and our beloved 11-year-old Porkie (Yorkie Pom), Baby Girl, just wants to have people pet her and adore her.
She is super tiny and has a kind of old-lady respect with other dogs. Not one problem in at least 50 trips to the park. Until that evening ...
Baby Girl was attacked for no reason. A young amber/blonde 40 pound pit-lab mix had her and was shaking her for the kill. By the time I got her out of the jaws of the other dog, Baby's intestines were hanging out. I just ran for the hospital because of the injuries and the fact that an observer said, “I'm calling 911.”
If you have any information that could help us to locate the owner of the dog that caused the injuries, I would appreciate it.
The reason I'm asking for help is because I don't think anybody should be saddled with a bill of this size for a tiny, calm and innocent dog being mauled and attacked. The emotional trauma combined with the $6,000 so far to save her life seems so unfair.
I set up a GoFundMe page so anyone, especially the owner could ask her friends and family to help with any amount to help take the sting out of this tragic incident. Our bill so far is $6,000. Go to www.GoFundMe.com/littlebg, Little “Baby Girls” Vet Bills.
