Law enforcement officials in Barton County are investigating an attack by a dog that seriously injured a woman.
Police in Great Bend reported in a media release that just before 4 p.m. on Friday emergency medical responders and officers responded to a house in the 2800 block of 17th Street in Great Bend in reference to a dog bite.
Upon arrival, officers found that a woman who lived at the residence had suffered significant injuries from being attacked by a PIT BULLTYPE DOG.
The woman was transported to Great Bend Regional Hospital by EMS but was later flown to a hospital in Wichita to be treated for her injuries.
The dog was impounded and euthanized, at the request of the owner.
The case is still under investigation, and charges will likely be forthcoming, according to police.
