(FOX Carolina) - Authorities responded to a dog attack in Greenville around 8 a.m. on Tuesday morning. Officials with the Parker Fire District said they responded to a Pit Bull attack on 3rd Avenue at C Street in the Poe Mill area. Officials said two people were injured and taken to the hospital via EMS.

Deputies said they heard the dog ripped off one victim's arm while en route to the scene. When they arrived on scene, the victim was still being attacked by the dog as it chewed on her arm, according to deputies.

An on-scene deputy put herself in harms way and fired shots, killing the dog. The deputy then tried to stop the bleeding. The victim also suffered several leg wounds.

Deputies said one victim was attacked earlier on Tuesday morning. She sustained non life-threatening injuries.
The dog was owned by one of the residents, according to deputies, and witnesses on scene told FOX Carolina that the two women who lived there were sisters.

We have a crew headed to the scene. Stay with foxcarolina.com for the latest in this developing story.

Is this the same fatal attack from North Carolina? Call me crazy, but I can't keep up with the carnage.

Nope, it's a new attack on 2 elderly women. I keep searching for who owned the mutant, or if the women owned it ??? I got mixed up on North Carolina and South Carolina. There is a Greenville in both and I first had this one in NC. Now I have it in SC and I think that's correct.

The sister of the owner lost her arm. The owner went to the hospital and has been released. Dog shot by police. All commentators in the article's comment section are so unbelievably in denial. I'm awed by the stupidity.

So this pit bull took the aunt's arm off, and the video shows the family crying because the pit bull is dead.

When did Americans get so dumb? Or is it just the Carolinas?

We are driving home from my In-Laws house in Seneca, SC as I write this. I sent my MIL a link to dogsbite last year because her hairdresser who worked from her house had just gotten a pit puppy and my MIL had to walk through the yard with the effing thing loose to get to the house. Every where we go there are dogs running loose, many of them are pits. I worry about my In Laws as they are always outside in the garden or walking on the road.

I hope your MIL finds a new hairdresser ASAP.

She asked her hairdresser to keep the dog contained at future appointments, which her hairdresser agreed to do, then at the next appt the dog was nowhere to be seen. My MIL asked about the dog and her hairdresser laughed and said it ran off, and she was ok with that because she didn't have time for it!
