HERON LAKE TOWNSHIP, JACKSON COUNTY MN - A LOOSE PIT BULL ATTACKED A HORSE LEAVING IT WITH LIFE-THREATENING INJURIES AND IT WAS EUTHANIZED - THE HORSE'S OWNER SHOT THE PIT

A dog and a horse are dead and the dog’s owner cited following an incident late last month near Lakefield.
At around 8:30 p.m. on July 26, deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to 87230 470th Ave. in Heron Lake Township to a report of a pit bull attacking a horse. When deputies arrived, they found both animals deceased.

An investigation revealed a pit bull owned by Angela Pruett, 38, of 46450 870th St. had wandered off her property and attacked a horse, which was in a fenced-in area at 87230 470th Avenue. The horse sustained life-threatening injuries and was euthanized by a veterinarian. The pit bull was shot by the horse’s owner.
