MANHEIM TOWNSHIP, LANCASTER COUNTY PA - A PIT BULL BIT A WOMAN ON THE LEG AND THE OWNER OF THE PIT WAS CHARGED WITH HARBORING A DANGEROUS DOG - THE VICTIM'S HUSBAND WENT TO THE OWNER'S HOME AND POINTED A HANDGUN AND HE IS CHARGED WITH SIMPLE ASSAULT

A dog bite incident in Lancaster County has led to charges against the dog owner and the husband of the victim.  Manheim Township Police say a PIT BULL, owned by Marianne Callaway, bit a woman on the leg Thursday night on the first block of Yardley Green.

Police say the victim's husband, Marc Chappelle, later went to Callaway's home and pointed a handgun at her. 
Callaway is charged with harboring a dangerous dog.
Chappelle is charged with simple assault. 
The dog also bit a police officer on the hand during the investigation.

How about the pit owner be charged with assault? I'm sure it wasn't a "bite" and the injury is far worse. People are not compelled to brandish handguns for "simple dog bites."
