LEBANON MO - A BULL TERRIER RECENTLY ADOPTED FROM PAWS AND CLAWS ADOPTION CENTER BY A WOMAN TO USE FOR PROTECTION BY TYING IT TO A TREE IN HER YARD BROKE LOOSE AND BIT A JOGGER

A bull terrier was taken by Lebanon Animal Conrol after it allegedly attacked a jogger. A 26-year-old Lebanon man called the Lebanon Police Department at about 6:01pm Saturday to report that he had been attacked by a large white dog while jogging at the intersection of Main and Broadway streets.  He reported that he had been bitten on the leg and believed he would need stitches, according to an LPD incident report.
EMS arrived on scene to treat the man's injuries, which the officer said was a "minor puncture and small skin tear." The man declined to be transported to Mercy Hospital Lebanon by ambulance and claimed he would seek treatment on his own, the report said. A BULL TERRIER  was taken by Lebanon Animal Control after it allegedly attacked a jogger.
The man's mother, who was also on the scene, demanded that the officer contact the dog's owner and "require" them to pay for her son's medical bills. The officer explained that they would have to take the owner to court.

The officer went to the dog owner's home on Main street and found an 18-month old bull terrier mix tied to a tree in the yard. The owner, a 47-year-old Lebanon woman, claimed  SHE HAD RECENTLY ADOPTED THE DOG FROM LEBANON PAWS AND CLAWS ADOPTION CENTER TO HELP PROTECT HER HOME BECAUSE SHE HAD RECENTLY BEEN THE VICTIM OF A BURGLARY.

The woman could not provide any documentation saying that the dog had received a rabies vaccination.  An Animal Control Officer was called to the scene to seize the dog.  It will be held for a mandatory 10-day rabies observation, the report says.

The so-called 'bull terrier' is just another pit bull with a funny nose. This one is a 'mix', which means it's funny-nose pit bull mixed with ordinary pit bull.

This idiot owner thinks a pit bull tied to a tree will protect her from burglars? Now how's it gonna do that without escaping the tie-up? These pit bull types don't bark when they're planning to attack, so the mutant mix would be of no use as a burglar alarm either.

Aaah, wait -- she had her solution: make the tie-up easy to escape. Who cares that your neighbors get mauled!
