MANHEIM TOWNSHIP PA - 2 PIT BULLS CAME ON A WOMAN'S PORCH AND CHARGED HER WHEN SHE TRIED TO LEAVE FOR WORK - AFTER CHARGING OFFICERS 1 PIT WAS SHOT

Police are investigating an incident where 2 PIT BULL-TYPE DOGS attacked a Manheim Township woman and police.

Around 5:45 a.m. Monday police received a call on the 1300 block of Orchard Street where a woman found two dogs on her porch. As she tried to leave for work the dogs charged at her, police said.

The Manheim Township police officer who responded to the call was also charged at by the dogs, forcing him to climb onto his vehicle. Other officers arrived at the scene and tried to capture the animals using food, police said.

A supervising officer arrived at the scene of the incident and was also charged by the dogs. He fired a shot at one of the dogs, killing it and causing the other dog to run away.

The owner of the dogs was located after the incident, police said. The incident remains under investigation.
