LAKE TROPICANA, MARION COUNTY FL - A PACK OF DOGS INCLUDING A PIT BULL AND A PIT BULL MIX ATTACKED A 76-YEAR-OLD WOMAN WALKING TO HER MAILBOX

A 76-year-old woman is hospitalized after being attacked by a pack of dogs in her Marion County yard. The victim's husband said his wife, Dawn Thompson, was walking to the mailbox when she was mauled by a least 4 dogs.
Witnesses said Thompson did nothing to provoke the attack, which family members say could have been fatal had a neighbor not stepped in to help.  The neighbor credited with saving Thompson's life told Channel 9 the first thing that went through his mind was, "Oh my God.  I have to help her before they kill her."
The 4 dogs, which included a pit bull and a pit bull mix, attacked Thompson as she went to the mailbox in the front yard of her 44th Street home.
"She was putting her outgoing mail in her mailbox and when she turned around, the dogs were thete," the neighbor said."
When he heard her screams for help, he ran inside his home and grabbed his horsewhip.
"I ran out and cracked it above their heads," he said.
After he cracked the whip several times, the dogs retreated to their home down the street.  Thompson was rushed to the hospital where she is recovering.  Doctors said it could be a few days before she is well enough to return home.  "I would estimate she has got somewhere between 50 and 100 puncture wounds.
Thompson's family reported the incident and animal control showed up to remove the dogs from their home.  Neighbors said it isn't the first time the animals have escaped and caused problems.Thompson's family is demanding the dogs be put down.
"Either me or my son are going to put these 4 dogs down if the county don't," said Jim Thompson, the victim's husband.
County officials said the owner of the dogs was issued 4 citations.  The dogs have been placed in quarantine for 10 days while they're tested for rabies.

This is what it's come to in this politically correct country. You can't expect the overreaching government to actually help the victims. You must take matters into your own hands to insure you're safe from the freaks out there and their mutant dogs.
I salute this man and hope he doesn't HAVE to put these dogs down. But I wish him every success in doing so.
