Thonotosassa, Florida -- Three of four aggressive pit bulls were shot dead by Hillsborough County deputies on Wednesday after the animals attacked a woman and blocked them from reaching her.
FOUR PIT BULLS got out of their yard on Taylor Road, got in the neighbor's fenced yard and attacked the woman, who suffered a serious bite to a leg. She then fled inside her house.
When two deputies and EMS arrived, the pit bulls remained in her yard and prevented anyone from getting inside the fence or the home.
Deputies emptied their pepper spray on the dogs, which scared the animals for a few moments. But, the dogs returned and attacked the deputies.
The deputies threw their empty pepper spray cans at them in attempt scare them off, but it did not stop the dogs. Deputies then opened fire killing at three of the dogs. The deputies got to the home and found the woman with a severe dog bite.
The woman was transported to a hospital for treatment of leg injury.
