HEXTHORPE, DONCASTER ENGLAND - MARTA GOMBAROVA WAS WALKING AND WAS ALMOST BACK HOME WHEN A PIT BULL TYPE DOG CHOMPED DOWN ON HER ARM AND TOOK HER DOWN - WHEN IT WAS OVER SHE HAD GAPING WOUNDS HANGING OPEN
Marta Gombarova had an operation on her arm after the dog, believed to be a PIT BULL TYPE BREED, savaged her as she was walking home. The 51-year-old, of Senior Road, Hexthorpe, has been told she may need plastic surgery following the attack which left her with chunks of her upper arm missing and a gaping wound.
Marta said: “The dog started biting my arm – it was a big dog, with big teeth. “I was on the floor and the dog wouldn’t get off. “I was screaming: ‘Help, help, I’m dying.’“I really thought I was going to die – there was blood everywhere and my arm was hanging open.”
Police investigating the incident have arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. Marta spent four days in hospital following the attack and may need further surgery. She revealed she is suffering flashbacks to the attack that happened on Wednesday, September 30, at 7.40pm on Ramsden Road near the Crawshaw Road junction – just yards from her home.
She added: “I keep thinking about it and waking up screaming, having nightmares. I am worried about leaving the house now.
”Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the attack or saw walkers in the area around that time to get in touch."
