NATIONAL PIT BULL VICTIM AWARENESS DAY - OCTOBER 24, 2015 - JUSTIN CLINTON WAS 10-YEARS-OLD WHEN HE WAS MAULED TO DEATH BY 2 PIT BULLS

JUSTIN CLINTON
Witnesses reported seeing the dogs drag Justin down the side of the road in the small community. A television station reported a passing motorist pulled the dogs off of him. It was too late though and the fourth-grader was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The owners were apologetic initially. Four months later they demanded a make-shift memorial Justin’s classmates had put together be dismantled and removed. It was on the back end of their leased property, a distance from their house and yard and it was the location he took his last breath.
In court the owners were found negligent and strictly liable for the actions of their two dangerous animals and a $7 million settlement was awarded to Justin’s family. "They won't receive any of the money,” Attorney Cynthia Kent said. The Georges had no insurance. This was not about the money at all. This was about justice for Justin, and also about sending a strong message that these types of dangerous dogs -- there's got to be something done to see that if people keep these dangerous dogs they've got to have high fences and strong fences." The Georges now face charges of criminally negligent homicide.
