TOPEKA KS - 2 PIT BULLS EXPRESSING THEIR DNA IN A PARK CAUGHT ON VIDEO BY A MAN WHO HAD JUST MOVED INTO THE NEIGHBORHOOD

"I bought a house recently in the neighborhood near my Law School and had two of my young kids with me as I was moving some things in. The front door was open and my kids were playing foosball in the front room as I took things in and out. We heard what sounded like a loud party in the park, and then upon listening closer people were screaming for help. I looked out and saw a dog dragging a body across the playground. I immediately called police. 911 dispatcher told me help was already on the way, and realizing that I could not help bare handed, I closed my front door, went to the kitchen for something, anything to help. My neighbors across the street had a broomstick, and that wasn't enough, so I grabbed a butcher knife, told my young kids, 7 and 11 to lock the door and stay inside and to not open it for anyone but me, and went to the park to help, with my phone in one hand, and the butcher knife in the other. The video picks up there."

Nothing says "Welcome to the Neighborhood!" more than seeing two roaming pit bulls in the park across the street attacking everyone that moves.

Excellent true account. I'd love to hear the excuses from the pit bull lobby on this one.

Here's something that is bothering me more and more: Look at the resources being used because of someone's choice of a pet. There are fire fighters, ambulance crews, police, all using their time and skills to protect people from the results of the pit propaganda machine, coupled with that of an idiot owner. We all pay for this.

I was thinking the same thing Farmer Jane. Also, that it's really a shame the officer did not put them both down on the spot. Because you know that owner will want his maulers back and will fight for them (well, maybe not the injured one, that costs money to fix that leg!) using more time and money in the courts.

Perhaps enough officers will be attacked (really not hoping for this, but I can see it happening) that the police will carry something with a little more fire power that a 9mm. Something like a 357. Screw the "double tap" that's part of police training. One shot. It's more humane for everyone involved.
