DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, WALTON CO FL - 2 PIT BULLS CHARGED A WOMAN TAKING OUT HER TRASH - WHEN AN OFFICER ARRIVED THE DOGS LUNGED AND BIT HIM

Defuniak Springs Police say a pit bull bit one of their officers.

(WJHG/WECP) - Defuniak Springs Police say a PIT BULL bit one of their officers.
Officials from the department say the officer responded to a call Thursday morning in reference to aggressive dogs.
Officials say a complainant told them she was taking out the trash when she was charged by two pit bulls that then attempted to bite her.
As one of the officers approached a mailbox as he was looking for the dogs, we are told the dogs lunged at him.
Authorities say the officer was able to fend the two dogs off, but one of them lunged at him again. We are told this time, the officer punched the dog in the head, and it retreated.
The officer says he sustained a cut and was treated at a nearby medical facility.
Walton County Sheriff's Office Animal Control took the dogs into custody, but at this time, it's unknown who they belong to.
