An Omaha toddler will need plastic surgery after being bitten in the face Wednesday night by a pit bull in a house near 42nd and Y Streets.
Officers responded to Children’s Hospital & Medical Center about 8 p.m. after learning that a 3-year-old had been bitten by a dog. The boy’s mother, Andrea Raymond, 28, told police that her son said he was bitten while trying to take a bone from her boyfriend’s 7-MONTH-OLD PIT BULL.
Officers noticed bite marks near the boy’s left eye, cheek, mouth and nose. Hospital staff said the injuries will require plastic surgery to repair. Medical personnel also pointed out bite marks on the boy's chest and a previous bite mark near the boy's left eye.
The Nebraska Humane Society was called to do a follow-up investigation. Mark Langan, a humane society spokesman, said Thursday that the investigation had not yet been completed.
