TERRE HAUTE IN - A WOMAN WAS ARRESTED AND IS FACING 10 CHARGES, WITH 5 OF THOSE BEING LEVEL 6 FELONIES, FOR DOG FIGHTING

(WTHI) – Terre Haute Code Enforcement told News 10 Friday morning that one person has been arrested on dog fighting charges.
Alicia M.Morgan, 31 of Terre Haute, appeared in court Friday morning; she is facing 10 charges with five of those charges being level 6 felonies.
Laurie Tharp with Terre Haute Code Enforcement reported these charges stem from a case that began in October. We reported on Oct. 21 that five adult pit bulls and one pit bull puppy were taken from a home in the 1500 block of Spruce Street. Along with the wounded dogs, Tharp said they found items associated with dog fighting.
News 10’s Jon Swaner was in the courtroom Friday morning and reports Morgan asked for a public defender. She is scheduled to be back in court on Monday.
Check back with this story for updates as information becomes available.

Typical American legislator logic: Let's let everyone own pit bulls, then spend taxpayer money having law enforcement scurry around trying to figure out which ones are using the pit bulls in dogfighting...which we do ban.

Then spend more taxpayer money on prosecution and the resulting endless appeals the defendants are entitled to.

Meanwhile, spend most of taxpayer money earmarked for animal shelters on keeping and rehoming pit bulls, including the ones we get from fight busts.

Then spend more taxpayer money patching up the thousands of people pit bulls attack every year.

Indeed, only a Big Tobacco lobbyist (John Dunham) could have thought up a 'BSL calculator' that would claim pit bulls bans are more expensive than all of the above. And only the corrupt things we call 'our representatives' could have decided that John Dunham is more worth listening to than their constituents.

Sweetie Pie, you have just broken my brain. You make so much sense. No one can argue against what you've pointed out.

Why do we protect dog fighters by not enacting BSL? Because it's too expensive, got it. What a joke!

How much does it cost to ban pit bulls, sorry, enact BSL?
