LIVINGSTON PARISH LA - A NEIGHBORHOOD DOG ATTACKED A YOUNG GIRL PLAYING IN HER YARD - SHE IS HOSPITALIZED WITH HEAD AND NECK INJURIES


(WAFB) - A child is in the hospital after being attacked by a dog Tuesday night, according to the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office. 

Deputies were called out to the 38000 block of Weiss Road in the Denham Springs area around 4 p.m. Tuesday.
According to LPSO, the child was playing in her own yard when the girl was attacked by a dog from the neighborhood.

The child was taken to a local hospital after sustained injuries to her head and neck which appear to be non-life threatening. 

Deputies are attempting to find the owner of the dog. LPSO said chargers are pending.
Animal Control was called out to take care of the dog. Officials are not yet sure of the dog's breed.

It's a Catahoula Leopard Pit Bull Mix. I hear they're great hunting nanny dogs!
