Karla Coleman’s two year-old daughter Ariana was attacked at the home in Westminster.
Ms Coleman told 10 News on Wednesday night it was an unprovoked attack.
“She’s gone to pat him and the dog has just gone and latched onto her,” Ms Coleman said.
“If it was my pet and it did that to a child, I would be absolutely devastated.
“When I actually saw her it was very full on because I wasn’t expecting it to be that bad, because I wasn’t told it was that bad.”
Ms Coleman said Ariana was doing “much better” on Thursday.
“She has a deep wound,” she said, “ . . she’s doing a lot better.
“She’s talking and laughing and carrying on today. She’s doing a lot better than what she was.”
The two-year-old was rushed to Joondalup Hospital after the attack where she is recovering after surgery. She needed about 50 stitches to her face. The dog bite narrowly missed her eye.
As of Wednesday night, the dog had not been seized by council rangers.
