DAYTON OH - THE RECENT PIT BULL ATTACK ON A 3-YEAR-OLD BOY HAS BROUGHT BACK MEMORIES TO ANOTHER MOM WHOSE DAUGHTER WAS ATTACKED 13-YEARS-AGO BY A PIT BULL
Tricia Phillips showed us the tiny pink Care Bears outfit covered in dark blood stains that her daughter Brooke was wearing when the PIT BULL attacked her.
"Being down at that hospital with her strapped down fighting and screaming, they had to sedate her, that's the only thing that went through my mind, that was my daughter 13 years ago," said Tricia Phillips.
All those memories came flooding back when Phillips saw the video of 3-year-old Trent, the tiny boy who was recently attacked by a pit bull, just like her daughter was.
"She walked past the dog and the dog grabbed her face. She had a lot more scratches than Trent did but the dog also began to bite her. She had 189 stitches in and out and four plastic surgeries later," she said.
The proud mom showed us a picture of Brooke Phillips today, a beautiful 15-year-old seen wearing a red dress to her prom.
Just a tiny scar on her cheek is the only visible sign now from that brutal attack. It's a picture very different from the images that are forever etched in her mom's memory: her little girl who could have lost her life that night when a dog turned vicious.
"THEY ATTACK TO KILL AND I HAVE NO DOUBT IN MY MIND IF MY FRIEND HAD NOT GOTTEN HER DOG OFF OF BROOKE AND IF MIKE HADN'T GOTTEN THE DOG OFF TRENT THESE BABIES WOULD BE DEAD."
She says just a glance of the pictures and...
"I can remember that day like it was yesterday. She remembers the attack too, " she said of her daughter.
On a bright note, little Trent is out of the hospital and I communicated with his grandpa by text Monday, Jan. 10, and he says Trent is doing well. They say they are spoiling him just a little more these days. He does have lots of surgery and treatments ahead of him.
And in a strange twist, Tricia Phillips is good friends with Trent's mom and was actually at the hospital with the family the day he was born.
She reached out to the family on Facebook after the incident to give them hope that Trent could recover from the dog attack like her daughter did.
