A man and his dog are recovering from severe injuries they suffered after an attack by a NEIGHBOR'S PIT BULL.
Julio Carattini said the attack happened in his backyard last month, when the pit bull attacked his dog.
“There was a pit bull, female pit bull, just chewing on my puppy, Susie. My thoughts were 'My God, this is my baby,'” Carattini said.
Carattini said he did everything he could to get the vicious dog off Susie, as it dug its teeth into her neck, hind leg and eye.
“She came this close to losing her left eye,” he said.
Susie had to get more than 30 stitches in her eye, and she wasn’t the only one.
“It turned around and started mauling on my hand,” Carattini said.
Carattini took his dog to the animal hospital first, then went to the emergency room to be treated for a large bite on his hand.
He said medical bills for him and Susie have added up to nearly $2,000.
His neighbor was cited for the attack.
Carattini said he is just glad both he, and Susie, are recovering from the traumatic attack.
“Susie's recovery took several weeks until she could finally walk on all four of her legs. She’s doing a lot better now,” Carattini said.
