BURY, GREATER MANCHESTER ENGLAND - AN UGLY ENGLISH BULL TERRIER ATTACKED A WOMAN AND HER SON WHEN THEY WENT TO A FRIEND'S HOME TO VISIT - BECAUSE THE UGLY DOG HAS ATTACKED BEFORE A COURT HAS RULED IT MUST BE PUT DOWN

DAVE the dog must be put down after he attacked a woman and her son in Bury, a court has ruled.
Sarah Richardson and her young son Brodie Keenan went to the house of Bradley Madden in Whitehead Crescent, Brandlesholme, at 7.45pm on September 12 last year.

While there, Madden's ENGLISH BULL TERRIER  Dave jumped up at Ms Richardson and repeatedly bit her.
The dog then locked its jaw around Ms Richardson's leg causing injuries to her calf.
She was taken to hospital and had to undergo leg surgery as a result of the attack.

Madden, aged 39, was charged with being the owner of a dangerously out-of-control dog that injured Ms Richardson and her son.  He appeared before Bury magistrates on October 30 and admitted the offence.
At a further hearing on February 10, Madden was ordered to do 40 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months and to pay £200 compensation to Ms Richardson, plus a £60 victim surcharge to the courts.

In such cases, the court can force owners to microchip their dog, keep it on a lead at all times in public and have it neutered.  However, on this occasion, the bench ruled that the dog must be put down unless an appeal is lodged by March 1.

Magistrates said they are satisfied that Dave constitutes a danger to public safety because of his temperament and past behaviour.  They said the dog had previously attacked a Bichon Frise breed dog and questioned whether Madden "is a proper person to be in charge of a dog."

After the hearing, Madden posted a message on Facebook to say he was gutted about the court's decision.
He added: "Poor Dave. He will always be a legend and the best mate I've ever had.

"THE BEST ARE ALWAYS SHORT LIVED, LIKE BUDDY HOLLY.  DAVE---WHAT A GUY."

In the early 1800s Bulldogs crossed with terriers were popular. By 1830 combat between Bulldogs and bulls were at the height of their popularity. Lovers of this so-called "sport" decided to create a dog that would attack even more agilely. They crossed the Bulldog with the Old English Terrier, adding in some Spanish Pointer blood; the result was the Bull Terrier breed. They soon found that the Bull Terriers were not the most successful fighters. In 1860 the white-coated variety, which was nicknamed the "White Cavalier" was bred by English dog dealer James Hinks and soon became a fashionable pet for nobles. The colored variety of Bull Terriers was created by back-crossing them with brindle Staffordshires. The breed has been used as a guard, ratter, herder and watchdog.

Historically man selectively bred vicious dogs for Hunting and Blood Sports.
Those animals are now classified as "Dangerous Breeds" and Every Single Day, somebody will be Attacked, Injured, or KILLED, by one of these dogs.

We no longer "hunt" to provide food for our families, and all those BARBARIC BLOOD SPORTS are now outlawed, so there's No Longer ANY Need for these DANGEROUS BREEDS and it's time WE GOT RID of them.

I'm sure that MANY PEOPLE have had "INCIDENTS" with such dogs, that they HAVEN'T reported to the Police, either through fear of retribution from the many "Thug Types" who seem to win "Status" from their peers through having a Fighting Dog for a "PET", or because they didn't feel their "incident" was serious enough for them to bother our SERIOUSLY OVERSTRETCHED POLICE.

I'm a Pensioner with a Spinal Injury and sometimes I'm not too steady on my feet. I had an encounter with TWO Pit Bulls in Kay Gardens in the Centre of Bury, when I was knocked off my feet.

A group of Tattooed, Skinheads, were trying to get the Pit Bulls to MATE on the Public Footpath outside a Pub in Kay Gardens !  It was an accident, the ***** was just trying to get away from the Dog, and crashed into me, but with such force as to knock me clean off my feet. Thankfully there was a Guard Rail between the Footpath and the Road on that corner and I managed to grab it and avoid hitting the ground.

I couldn't blame the Pit Bull that knocked me down - she was too busy "Fighting Off a Rapist" to worry about bumping into a passing human, and I suffered No Physical Injury, so I didn't report the incident.

Two years earlier on Bury Road, Tottington, a Child Hit my Car, because of a dog, the same breed as "Dave" !  Yes, I know it's normally the Car that Hits the Pedestrian, but I'd already spotted this situation developing and had slowed right down.

Man walking the dog (on a lead) was walking towards me as I drove towards Bury, with the Child walking away from me. I could see the dog was a bit "frisky" and the Child uneasy, moving right to the kerb.
Just as they were about to pass, the dog LURCHED at the Child and the man really struggled to restrain it. The frightened Child leapt into the road, collided with my car's front nearside wing and ended up lying on the bonnet.

Thankfully the Child's only injury was a bruise on his right elbow (where he dented my car's bonnet), and the Man couldn't have been more apologetic.
The Young Boy INSISTED that he was OK and that the Police should NOT be called.
The incident REALLY SHOOK ME UP and had I not slowed down, it would almost certainly have resulted in a DEATH.

I think the Breeding, Buying, Selling and Owning of DANGEROUS DOG BREEDS should be made ILLEGAL in the UK.  We AREN'T ALLOWED to walk down the street with a LION, LEOPARD, or CHEETAH on a Lead, no matter How Docile they might be, and Muzzled or Not.
So WHY are DANGEROUS DOGS tolerated, when they cause SO MANY DEATHS AND INJURIES ?

Pit bulls are not comparable to Buddy Holly. That is a new one.

Buddy Holly never ripped people into shreds. Charles Manson is a more apt comparison.
