SIOUX FALLS SD - A PIT BULL BIT A MAN NEAR THE DOWNTOWN AREA AND AFTER SPEAKING WITH THE VICTIM THE OWNER DISAPPEARED WITH HIS PIT

Animal Control officers are looking to identify a dog who bit a man near downtown Sioux Falls.  The bite occurred about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday across the street from Mercato grocery near Duluth Avenue and 11th Street.

A LARGE BLACK PIT BULL with no collar was outside with its owner. The man who was bitten spoke with the owner after the incident, according to Animal Control supervisor Julie DeJong.

The owner of the dog was a white man who spoke with an Italian accent, DeJong said in a news release. He was wearing dark clothing.

Animal Control needs to identify the dog to verify its vaccinations. If you have any information, please call Animal Control at 367-7000.
