An evening walk ended sadly for an Elgin man whose 10-pound Jack Russell terrier mix, named Buddy, was attacked and killed by another dog, according to Elgin police reports.
"He was probably the best dog that I've ever had," Marco Zablockij said of 7-year-old Buddy. "He was extremely friendly. All he wanted to do was be held and played with and petted. He always had to be near somebody. He always had to be in the presence of the people, he didn't like being alone."
Zablockij adopted Buddy from a dog shelter after the then six month old was found on Route 20 after he was clipped by a car.
Zablockij's father, Marcel, was taking care of Buddy while his son was away on business. Marcel Zablockij was walking the dog around 9 p.m. on Waverly Drive near Lords Park when A MEDIUM-SIZED BROWN DOG WITH CLIPPED EARS ran up to the terrier and began attacking it, according to the report.
