Police are enquiring into a vicious dog-on-dog attack which saw a ten-month old Chihuahua killed by a PIT BULL in Redcross Way near Borough tube station.
The puppy’s owner has said her dog Gucci, who was savaged on March 21, weighed just one-and-a-half kilograms.
Gucci’s owner, who did not want to be named, said her son had been walking the puppy between 7am and 7.30am when the attack happened.
“It was awful. This great Pit Bull attacked him when they were out for a walk around the block,” the woman said.
“I realised when I suddenly heard my son crying. Before I knew it my little dog was dead and covered in blood. There was another man hitting the Pit Bull with a broomstick to get it away.
“The owners of the Pit Bull did not even come forward to say they were sorry.”
The 36-year-old woman said she had no idea whether the other dog has been put down, but she believes it was taken to a police station in Peckham.
“I want to warn other dog owners about the dangerous dog to make sure their pets don’t also get attacked,” she said.
“Gucci was like a part of the family. We keep having flashbacks.
“Just thinking about it now makes me upset.”
A Met Police spokesman confirmed receiving a call on March 21 at 8.20pm and that they found and seized a Pit Bull before taking it to a police station.
The spokesman added that no arrests have been made and police are still investigating.
Any witnesses can come forward to give evidence to the police by calling 101.
