PLANO TX - A MINI CHIHUAHUA/DACHSHUND "ELI" WEIGHING JUST 3 POUNDS DIED FROM INJURIES IT RECEIVED FROM A LARGER DOG AT PETSMART DOG DAY CAMP

Tiny dog killed

Less than one week ago, a small dog was attacked BY ANOTHER DOG while playing at a PetSmart dog day camp in Plano, Texas, reported Friday's WFAA News 8. The tiny dog, a mini Chihuahua/dachshund weighing in at just three pounds, was killed from the injuries sustained when THE LARGER DOG, who was participating in the same camp, attacked.

The deceased dog, named "Eli," belonged to Stefanie Rodrigues and her mom, Nannette Feda - he had been taken to the pet store on April 9 for an overnight stay, but he died after the devastating incident with the larger dog. Little Eli had been rushed to a veterinarian for emergency care, but the injuries proved to be fatal.

A witness to the attack told WFAA News that there were too many dogs participating in the play group and she had worried that the tiny dog would get hurt by one of the larger dogs - tragically, her worries proved to be warranted.

Rodrigues expressed her grief and remorse about what happened to the tiny dog, "You feel guilty, you blame yourself. You blame yourself, thinking 'I brought him here and he was defenseless."

PetSmart is investigating the incident.
