(WOOD) — A man was taken to the hospital after police say he was attacked by two dogs in Van Buren County.
It happened Thursday around 2:30 p.m. in the 39000 block of M-43 in Waverly Township, north of Paw Paw, according to a news release from the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department.
Police and animal control say the two got out of their kennels at the same time and started fighting. When a 25-year-old man tried to stop the fight, the dogs attacked him.
The two dogs were PIT BULL and BULL MASTIFF MIXED BREEDS.
A 48-year-old woman and her 4-year-old grandchild were hiding inside a nearby barn at the time, unable to leave because the dogs were outside the only exit.
Deputies had to shoot and kill one of the dogs to get the pair to safety.
The case remains under investigation. Deputies say location of the incident is a licensed kennel and breeder.

A licensed kennel and breeder of mutant dogs that attack their own owners. AWESOME! They must have provoked the dogs, right? Probably raised them that way, right? It's not the breed, it's the owner, right?
