JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -
A man is facing charges and his dog is quarantined after biting a 1-year-old girl.
According to a Jonesboro Police Department incident report, officers responded to the 1700-block of West Nettleton for the bite around 12:20 p.m. Friday.
A witness told police the child was in the commons area of the apartment complex while her parents were unloading their car.
The baby started screaming.
The witness said she saw 20-year-old Aaron Dean Skinner trying to get his dog in the house and said the dog "seemed aggressive," according to the report.
At first, her parents thought the baby was just crying from being knocked down but then noticed a bite mark on her upper right chest.
Her parents took the girl to St. Bernards Medical Center to be treated.
Skinner told police he was coming back from walking his dog when the incident happened.
He admitted to not having control over the dog, which was on a retractable leash.
The dog is a ROTTWEILER/DOBERMAN/LABRADOR MIX.
The dog is currently at Jonesboro Animal Control for a 10-day quarantine that ends May 29.
Skinner is charged with harboring a dangerous dog, no state rabies and improper confinement.
He is expected in court May 25.
