LAKE HALLIE WI - A PIT BULL MIX JUMPED A FENCE AND INVADED A YARD TO ATTACK ANOTHER DOG - A NEIGHBOR SHOT IT DEAD!!!

LAKE HALLIE - A dog was shot and killed Thursday after it reportedly jumped over a 4-foot fence and ran to a neighboring yard and attacked a dog there.
According to the Lake Hallie police department, the incident happened around 4:28 p.m. in the 3100 block of County Highway OO in Lake Hallie. The dog, described as a PIT BULL TYPE MIX, had jumped the fence and was attacking a Dachshund/lab mix that was in its own yard at the time.
The person responsible for the attacking dog, which had recently been adopted from a shelter in Rice Lake, attempted to break up the attack and was bitten in the process. Another neighbor intervened by shooting and killing the attacking dog. When Lake Hallie officers arrived, the attacking dog was dead.
The person that was bitten was treated for the bite. The remains of the dog will be tested for rabies at the owner’s expense.
According to Lake Hallie Police Chief Cal Smokowicz, it is not illegal to intentionally kill an attacking dog if a person or domestic animal is caused bodily harm and attempts to restrain the dog are tried and failed and immediate action is necessary.

I'm glad every time police announce that it's legal to shoot pit bulls dead. I wish more people would become this kind of law abiding citizen.
