Las Vegas Metro police said a person shot and killed a dog in a northwest Las Vegas neighborhood Sunday afternoon.
Police received a call of two vicious mixed breed dogs about 1:15 p.m. at Tropical Cliff Avenue, and Tropical Springs Street, near Tropical Parkway and Decatur Boulevard.
According to Lt. Jeff Goodwin, of Metro, a citizen reportedly saw a dog kill a cat, and he followed the dogs. The dogs were near a brick wall when the person discharged his firearm twice, striking, and killing one dog.
Officers arrived, and were able to contain the other dog using a catch pole, Goodwin said. Animal Control took the dog into custody,
Detectives are investigating the incident, but have not said if charges will be filed, Goodwin said.
Goodwin said the owners of the dogs have not been located.
