A 7-year-old suffered serious injuries Wednesday evening after being bitten by a dog in Whiteville.
According to Columbus County Animal Control Manager Joey Prince, Jaselyn Taylor was bitten at approximately 6 p.m. She was seen by Columbus Regional before being transferred to Chapel Hill.
The dog, which appears to be a PIT BULL MIX  according to Prince, was not wearing a rabies tag.
The owner of the dog, Connie Sikes, provided a rabies certificate Thursday morning but the vaccine, which is good for one year, was administered on Sept. 21, 2013.
Prince said he has alerted the Columbus County Health Department to the situation as well as Columbus Regional Hospital officials, who are expected to contact Chapel Hill doctors to recommend starting the rabies immune globulin treatment.
The dog has been placed in quarantine for observation at the Columbus County Animal Shelter and has shown no symptoms of rabies, according to Prince. The dog will be held for 10 days for observation per state statutes.

Oh, it's her fault because "She really spooked the dog".

Why are pitbulls so cowardly that they spook from 7 year old girls?
