IJAMSVILLE MD - A GERMAN SHEPHERD ATTACKED A 3-YEAR-OLD - THE CHILD WAS FLOWN TO TRAUMA CENTER IN BALTIMORE
A 3-year old Ijamsville child was flown to a Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore Friday after the child was attacked by a GERMAN SHEPHERD , according to Rachel McVey, a Frederick County animal control officer.
The child suffered non-fatal injuries, Frederick County Sheriff’s deputies said.
The attack occurred just before 5 p.m. on the 2300 block of Persimmon Drive. Animal control officers from Frederick County and Frederick County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene shortly after, where the dog was turned over to animal control by its owners. The dog is currently being held at the Frederick County Animal Control Shelter.
McVey declined to give more information about the case because it’s still under investigation.
A neighbor who did not give her name said she was outside when she heard a large commotion that was soon followed by ambulances and a state police helicopter that landed at a nearby church. Prior to the ambulance’s arrival, she heard a person at the house where the attack occurred yelling “Go away!”
Several other neighbors came out of their homes as ambulances arrived, she said.
“It sounded bad,” she said. “Let’s hope everything is okay.”
