KENNEWICK, BENTON COUNTY WA - A "MEDIUM-SIZED DOG" WAS BEING CONSIDERED FOR ADOPTION BY A GRANDFATHER SO COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL ALLOWED HIM AND HIS 7-YEAR-OLD GRANDSON IN A PLAYROOM TO VISIT AND THE "MEDIUM SIZED" ATTACKED THE BOY'S FACE
A dog up for adoption through Benton County Animal Control will be euthanized after it bit the face of a seven-year-old boy whose family was considering adopting it.
The boy’s grandfather had visited the animal shelter and seen THE MEDIUM-SIZED DOG beforehand, a Kennewick police briefing said. When the boy approached the dog in a play yard during a visit on Tuesday, it attacked unprovoked, biting the child’s face and causing significant injury. The grandfather was bitten on the arm when he intervened.
The boy was taken to a hospital for care and specific details of his injuries were not available. The dog, whose breed wasn’t reported, will be quarantined for 10 days before it is euthanized.
