A Houston County judge found a Dothan man not guilty this week of animal cruelty.
Court records show District Court Judge Benjamin Lewis found 52-year-old Clarence Ashley Jones not guilty of misdemeanor cruelty to animals on Monday.
Records show deputies had charged Jones with causing injury to a white ENGLISH BULLDOG MIX when he shot it with a pellet gun on May 26.
Jones said he had witnesses who corroborated his story that he only shot his neighbor’s dog with a pellet gun after the PIT BULL DOG MIX came into his backyard and attacked his 14-year-old dachshund.
Jones said the pit bull dog mix was not killed, and his dog survived too.
Attorney Raynor Clifton, with Adam Jones Associates, represented Jones in court.

YES! People should be able to protect their own pets in their own yards. Otherwise, how much sense does it make that one dog deserves protection, but the other one does not? It's okay for an "English Bulldog Mix" to try and kill, maim, or hurt another dog, but it's not okay for the "English Bulldog Mix" to get killed, maimed, or hurt.
